The Democrats are in the process of shutting down the Senate to stop the GOP from chairing Senate hearings.
This is going to be two years of total war. Let's see if the media notices!

Late November. This issue has been going on since 11/5.
To: Howlin
On a round table discussion? Or in a rollcall article?
To: hobbes1
One good thing: the Dems lose one seat on the Judiciary.
And that mean John Edwards won't be there anymore.

Is it a for sure thing?
To: Howlin
Yes, indeed. Now if we can gain an even larger majority, maybe we can get rid of that Vile Schmucky Scummer.

Yeah, expect to see him at the Boston 2004 convention talking about how Bush (not Clintoon in 1994) screwed up relations with North Korea.
To: marajade
Yep. How dumb is that?

Hope that he got some bad information on this subject.

Hatch... Isn't he term limited as chair and this is his last term at Judiciary Chair? Bring on Jon Kyl...

What club?!?!
Money, FRiend. Money.
In the immortal words of AC/DC, "Come on, come on, listen to the money talk."
Having the votes is good. Real good. But without even looking at the roster of GOP members of the committee, I'm willing to bet there are a few weak kneed "sensible moderates" that can be swayed by an aggressive PFAW, NOW, ACLU, DNC campaign that is managed by the dems on the committee USING THE EXTRA DOUGH that Hatch, that buffoon, has so generously bestowed upon them.
Not to mention the "wuss factor".
This is an easy one. Show the senate dems that there's a new sheriff in town and he don't cotton to the outlaws telling the townsfolk how to run the meetin'.
To: Howlin
And that mean John Edwards won't be there anymore. Really? I thought Edwards wanted to use the Judiciary committee as his platform for his presidential run.

I heard the offer was before the election and that the leadership isn't going to honor it...

Kondracke isn't usually wrong on stuff like that.
Unfortunately his web site is now subscription, so I can't look on it.

I wish I thought that would be true, but Kondracke said this during a recent discussion about the very thing we are watching today, squabbling over committees.

in the Committee, raw Voting Power is all that matters I agree. The money is irrelevant because the major liberal lobbies will devote unlimited resources to fight the President's judicial nominees.
But the message Hatch sent is that he will back down rather than risk a fight. So what will Hatch do when Pickering is voted out of committee to the Senate floor and every Democrat, lead by Leahy, is calling the Republicans racists??? If I'm Leahy, I say if I filibuster, my lobbyies run attack ads, and every other word is "Lott" or "racist," Hatch will blink again.
To: Wphile
He's the junior senator on that committee; unless he pulls a fast one, he's off.

Well hopefully someone will get to Hatch and tell him, "No." Maybe the Republicans won't give the money to him...
