The more moves he makes like this, the happier I am I voted for someone else.
When are the apologists going to wake up?

When are the apologists going to wake up?They did. Weeks ago. They were right.

Our "Conservative" president strikes again...the ultimate solution of course is to pay all retired Americans in pesos

Thanks for clarifying. I feel SO much better when people on the "right" do evil things than when people on the "left" do.

They did. Weeks ago. They were right. You're kidding, right?
The President has all but abandoned any sort of enforcement of our southern border, and you somehow feel GOOD about it?
Maybe we'd be better off if those folks went back to sleep...

In all fairness, the first time I read of this, it would only have taken in those here "legally", i.e., who've paid into the system. Aside then from the notion that the system sucks anyway, if it goes to the illegal element, as a nation, we will have had it anyway, long before that.

"As soon as George W. Bush was elected president, Fox started pressuring him to legitimize the status of some 10 million illegal aliens who are in the United States" I would like to know what has been going on behind the scenes by some elements in our government, especially what has been going on behind the scenes with Bush that Fox would feel so very comfortable and welcome in making his outrageous demands. Bush almost tripped getting to the airport and flying off to Mexico as his first act in office. What ever it is, it is anti-American, anti-Constitution, anti-sovereignty, and not very compassionate.

I agree with you. It just doesn't make any sense. Social Security to illegals? That's just another way to legalize them.
It must be some morbid scheme to get votes or resources or something from Mexico. In terms of US citizens, why ?? It's just incomprehensible that cheap labor and resources are more important than the integrity of the US as a nation and the well-being of citizens are.

The Bush administration has just thrown a monkey wrench into a harmonious solution. A deal is in the works to add to the bulging Social Security rolls many thousands of Mexicans who are working in the United States, both legally and illegally. This idea would be very costly to U.S. taxpayers. It's bad politics, it undermines the rule of law and it invites a new wave of illegals to come across our border in search of taxpayer benefits. It just keeps getting worse and worse..... absolutely disgusting!
To: grania
Why indeed? Why crops up a lot when dealing with illegals. Why not close the border? Why give free tax payer benefits? Now, why SS? Why, why, why?

"37,000" applicants my hind end, this stat comes from the people who predicted NAFTA would be a net increase in jobs. Our embassy will be flooded with people with claims and there exists a ready made ethnic lobby in this country that will make sure they are not "dicriminated" against.

I think it's called "Compassionate Conservatism" a misnomer that I want no part of.
