Vedi, Veni, Freepie! The weather was chilly, but not cold enough to keep the Mid-Missouri Patriots home. Shane, DogRobber, Prov, Zip and BlueSage donned long underwear and lots of socks to withstand the cold. Once on the corner, our hearts were increasingly warmed by the appreciation shown by folks who drove by flashing waves and thumbs up of support.
We always have a good time observing life at the peaceniks Hate America festivals. Our drummer girl was getting lessons from a local expert who was actually a pretty good drummer. One of our peaceniks shows up each week in below freezing temperatures wearing a pith helmet. Of course, their signs are amusing, trite, and often just plain stupid.
Prov provided constant entertainment with her sign reading, Honk if you Believe Saddam. Several drivers, after honking for the peaceniks, noticed her sign too late. She got a few disgusted looks and we cracked up. Additionally, she came to the cold-weather FReep with a frozen cherry Slurpee and tried to get it to melt enough to drink it by rubbing it between her mittens. She obviously is from Michigan as the natives usually sip on hot chocolate under these conditions.
The past two weeks the peaceniks have been coming to our side of the street and visited with us. They seem to be amazed that though we are conservative, and support our troops, country and President; we also have consciences, hearts, morals, values and decency. Apparently they expected all war mongers to be heartless barbarians who would use children for skeet. One can only shake their heads when dealing with the liberals intolerance and prejudices.
So, without further adieu, here are the photos from today. Enjoy! DogRobber and I need to get back to work trying to get the old house ready for market. Join us again next week for the on-going saga of Missouri v. peaceniks!
How do I work this thing?
What is good in life? To crush peaceniks, see them flee
before you, Slurpees.
Mid-Missouri Patriots thank our troops and veterans.
A shot of the intolerant, radically left-wing peaceniks.
Free drumming lessons!

Thanks, bsw. Great article. Great FReep. It was especially fun today, for some reason. (I guess I just enjoy the cold temperatures and the beautiful blue sky and the company and freedom and ...!) Thank you, Lord, and thank you, military, for our freedom.

Great recap of today's FReep. I can only add that I loved the show of support from real Americans passing by. (Shane also wants to thank Prov for loaning him a pair of gloves today),
Bret, we missed you today and hope to see you next week.

Another good job, Columbia FReepers, showing those peaceniks the error of their way. Thanks, too, to ziplet Shane. It is so great, especially realizing what's coming, that you are getting such wonderful support by the passersby.

Great write up, and I especially liked the "Honk if you believe Saadam" sign. I saw a little blurb in the Columbia Daily Tribune, sounded like someone from the post office had called their Tribline and it said that the people working in the post office was tired of hearing those drums beating every Saturday at 10:00 while the peaceniks were out there. I thought that was kind of funny, nice to know others are annoyed by it. Sorry I wasn't out there, hope to be next weekend, I'm trying to get in as many visits as possible to my kids down by Fort Leonard Wood. I guess this is like summer to you, right Prov? That's all right, I couldn't hang in Minnosota anyhow, way too cold for me.

Bret, here is that quote from the Trib. HeeHee! Seems there are other folks in Columbia besides us that the peaceniks irritate. Wish they'd come and join us once in a while.
From the Trib: "On Saturday in front of the post office, when the hygienically challenged people come out, a person sits out there and beats the drum for an hour. It sure is annoying to the postal workers. They need to stop that."
