I here many 'conservative' Bush backers talk about how he is a real leader, someone who excecls at leadership. To them I say either they are wrong or Pesident Bush is leading in the wrong direction. If the WH doesn't do what is right in this case then I'll be very disappointed.

The WH has GOT to stay out of it. This is for the judicial branch to decide---and just imagine if the SCOTUS does the right thing and decides AA is BS and outlaws it, thereby ending handouts for minorities. The race card will be played by the Democrats saying President Bush is a racist.
Besides the separation of powers, he needs to stay out of it for political reasons and let the justices do the right thing on their own. It's about time.

Just as expected by conservatives, Bush is a coward and will not step forward to do what is right. Re-election means more than than the rights of Americans.

A coalition of 11 Hispanic groups yesterday dispatched a letter citing political reasons why Mr. Bush should support the use of race as an admissions factor to help equalize the percentage of Latinos pursuing college degrees.Silly me. I always thought that the way to get ahead was to study hard and then you'd be rewarded for your efforts by being accepted by a good university. But that was before common sense was tossed out the window in regard to college admissions policies. Now, apparently all you need to be is an above average student with the right skin color, and you're in.

a 20-point bonus for American Indian, black and Hispanic undergraduate applicants This means nothing if you don't know what the rest of the point system is. I wonder why the author left this information out...
This is how I heard it:
Excellent Essay: 1 pt
Perfect SAT score: 12 pts
Being a Minority: 20 pts
Being a Minority is worth almost twice as much as a Perfect SAT Score!

I'm trying to figure out how a brief from the White House would influence the decision of the Supreme Court. Is it possible that there are life-tenured Supreme Court justices who are sitting on the fence about this old issue? Who would get swayed one way or the other because they read a brief from the White House?
Paging Congressman Billybob....
