RALEIGH, N.C. -- North Carolina has received a 'C' on the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence report card.
Rachel Smith, co-President of the North Carolina Council of The Million Mom March says the fact that there's no law mandating locks for all guns sold in the state probably contributed to the lower grade.

A "C" must mean the NC legislature is doing SOMETHING right.
Perhaps next year we can improve to a "D".
We also got "a demerit for bad conduct".... oooh, SCARY!

Funny, I used to see this slogan everywhere that said "Only YOU can prevent forest fires". Seems that logic applies to "gun violence" too. You know, the whole responsibility thing and all......

Well, what do they want? It's just about worthless to get a CCW permit in this state since NO ONE lets you carry them inside (legally). Doesn't THAT make this state very criminal-friendly?

Hold on. I'm sure she won't disappoint.

Hi FSE. Happy New Year!
Well, what do they want?
No less than unilateral disarmament of we, the future crime victims.

Very true, and yes, it does.

Don't you love how libs rail against all things conservative, and then co-opt our methods and ideas every chance they get? How long has GOA and NRA been rating lawmakers and states?

I really really hope some Democrats in the legislature propose some new gun control laws. Can you imagine anything better for Republicans in 2004?

Good job, CD.
The ironic thing about the article is that is assumes that preventing gun violence is the government's job, whereas the government's only role in the matter is to punish criminals.
Preventing violence, on the other hand, is a real pipe-dream. If it's possible, it's the job of every individual.

Maybe repealing some of our existing Gun Control laws would be a good start...

I think it safe to assume that no liberal has even read what a trigger lock says on its label, (paraphrased): "does not prevent gun from firing if loaded prior to pulling trigger with lock installed".
Isn't that like buying a padlock and reading a warning on the package, "even with lock installed properly, the door can be opened just like it wasn't even locked"?
Pointless, just like most gun control laws.
To: Pintobean
The "typical" Master trigger lock is useless on a revolver. You can still open the cylinder, load it, close the cylinder, cock the hammer and pull the lock backward into the trigger. It is cumbersome. The right way to lock a revolver is with the cylinder open and a rubber covered padlock over the backstrap.
The same Master trigger lock on Glock is just plain dangerous.
Thanks to FReeper ctdonath for the animated trigger lock picture.

One of the reasons I will be moving to North Carolina this year.
Keep your eyes open, your guns loaded, and yout powder dry.
