If I were Chuckie, I'd let my esteemed colleague, Sen. Clinton, do the filibustering - - -she has enough hot air for the both of them.

Let the GOP call their bluff on this one. Round up the cots and bring 'em out to the floor. I want to see Chuckie talk for 26 hours straight....

heh .... have fun in your LAST term Schumer.

We can only hope that John Edwards gets involved in this somehow. He was particularly NASTY and DISHONEST during the Pickering hearing.

If he goes through with the filibuster, it ought to be referred to by future generations as "The Great Pickering Dickering". Or perhaps "Bickering, Snickering, and Dickering about Pickering".

Good one. Or that he'd once called New York "Hymietown." Or that he'd boasted that he used to spit in white people's soup when he worked in a restaurant. Or that he used the n-word frequently when he was governor of Arkansas. Stuff like that.

hold - An informal practice by which a Senator informs his or her floor leader that he or she does not wish a particular bill or other measure to reach the floor for consideration.
The Majority Leader need not follow the Senator's wishes, but is on notice that the opposing Senator may filibuster any motion to proceed to consider the measure.
filibuster - Informal term for any attempt to block or delay Senate action on a bill or other matter by debating it at length, by offering numerous procedural motions, or by any other delaying or obstructive actions.

I think he is referring to Jessie Jackson's use of this phrase several years ago and the loud "yawn" that was heard from the lamestream press and Demoncrat race baiters. Jessie said he was sorry a day later and it all blew over - just like what happened to Trent Lott.

This is what I'd do:
(1) Schedule the vote for additional unemployment benefits extension after the Judge Pickering Vote
(2) Let Chucky fillabuster to his heart's content ... meanwhile of course, the vote to extend unemployment benefits are delayed because of the obstructionist Dems ....

?!! Hey, buddy, since when was THAT an excuse!! "I was just quoting Aldolph Hitler."
I'm not PC-ing you with nibbling suggestions that your use of the word might be a problem, BTW. I'm just directly attacking/Thwopping you for using it! :::THWOP::: :::THWOP:: I'm not sure what a thwop is, but it's not good, OK? :)

Schumer, what a schmuck!!! He is the poster boy for anti-Southern bigotry. When is he going to apologize for the New York City Draft Riots of 1863 where many of African Americans were lynched and hundreds beaten and mutilated, their property and homes destroyed.
Do a Google search and learn about Northern racism of the era.

shocking. i'm stunned.

This is great news. A Northeast Liberal will destroy any of the political capital the Democrats earned in the South over the GOP abandoning Lott. That is a great point. I can see the democrats getting pulled into another "we hate the south" argument and basically throwing away any good will they have down there. You would think that dems would not do this, since after November 5th there were a few that realized they had to do well in the south to accomplish anything.
