I would really appreciate any updates to this story. My parents were flying out of Charlotte this morning at 8:00 eastern and I can't get in touch with them.

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (CNN) -- An Air Midwest commuter plane with 19 people on board crashed on takeoff into a hangar Wednesday at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in North Carolina.

Plumes of gray smoke could be seen rising from a hangar.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the plane was Air Midwest Flight 5481 and was on its way to the Greenville-Spartanburg Jetport in South Carolina.

There was no immediate word on injuries or deaths.

The plane struck the side of the hangar.

A wall of the hangar was covered with black smoke.

The FAA said the aircraft is a Beech 1900, a turboprop aircraft. The airlines' Web site says it operates as US Airways Express.

The crash comes after a year in which there were no commercial airline fatalities in the United States, federal officials said.

If you are trying to reach your parents on their cell phones, be advized that they rarely work inside airports. Airports are adding scrambling signals. It's very frustrating. I wish you all the best.

If you know what airline and their flight# you can go to TRIP.com and check on their flight. You do need to know their flight # and airline though. Great website for tracking flights.

This crash occurred earlier than that but of course they were saying that there were delays. Let us know when you hear something from them though!

"My parents were flying out of Charlotte this morning at 8:00 eastern and I can't get in touch with them."

I'm hoping you were able to contact them by now...and let us know.

Tragic air crashes like this, a routine flight, it really strikes fear into everyone's heart esp when their loved ones are frequent flyers.

Prayers said for you....
