I'm fighting a little jealousy, Gretchen. I keep working on the same 15 pounds, and keep losing the battle.......and that's with regular workouts at a fitness center.

Ya done GOOD, kiddo!!

Okay, totally off topic: I had this for dinner tonight and highly recommend it, and want to share it in case anyone else out there loves salmon. Easy and quick to fix, unusual taste.

INDIAN-SPICED ROAST SALMON
Serves 4
Skillet on burner 5 min.; then oven 400F about 10 min.

You can mix the first eight ingredients in larger quantities and store them in a small container for the next several times you serve this.

1 t. ground cumin
1 t. ground coriander
1/8 t. ground cloves
1/4 t. ground cinnamon
1/2 t. ground saffron or turmeric (can be omitted if not on hand)
1/2 t. dried thyme
1/2 t. black pepper
1/2 t. fennel seeds, crushed or whole
4 six-oz. skinless salmon fillets (about 1-1/4" thick)
1/2 t. salt to sprinkle on fillets
1 T. olive oil (or more)
lemon wedges to serve on the side

1. Heat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Combine and mix first eight ingredients in shallow dish or dinner plate.
3. Sprinkle fillets with salt and dredge them in spice mixture.
4. Heat oil in large cast iron frying pan* over medium-high heat.
5. Add the fillets and cook for 5 minutes, or until browned; turn over halfway through cooking time; slide spatula underneath once or twice to prevent sticking, if needed.
6. Turn fillets over and place the fry pan in the oven;** continue cooking for 10-13 min. or until fillets flake easily. Do not overcook.

* I use a Farberware frying pan and spray it with PAM first.
** I turn the fish over onto a baking dish that is oven-proof to finish the cooking in the oven.

7. Domestic Shorthair mixed.
Mom is a black (dark chocolate undercoat) with a couple of white places.
Sammy is Charcoal Grey and White (and was the largest and now the smallest, at least for the time being.
Annika is smoke grey with Tabby tail and some dark markings. Karrie is lighter grey with similar markings as Annika but also has same white patch (on throat) and tummy.
Eldrick is a somewhat tiger striped cat who couldn't decide if he was a tiger or leopard (with spots on his tummy.)
Shawn is marked similar to Karrie but longer and leaner.
Revelin is a grey and black patchwork with spots on his tummy (and some light brown around the face).

Hey, I just read a great editorial (thread is called BUSH SHOWS THE WAY) and he was praising the Bush plan. This, coming from England no less! Anyway, his point about the dividend relief was that this is perfect because at this very point in time, seniors are seeing their CDs and savings accounts earning only about 2%. Perfect!

Yep, you are right about the seniors and W was brillant in bringing that bit up right away.

Oh, the rats are scrambling...I love it!

Now, I'm really off to bed. G'night ladies and gents!

Atkins, yes indeed. http://www.atkinscenter.com will give you lots and lots of info.

Even if you don't have a problem with insulin, cutting carbs, refined flour and sugar while substituting protein (and protein cooked in butter and olive oil, etc.), lower-carb veggies, low-sugar fruits, nuts, seeds (sunflower seeds are very good for us), and such will do wonders for anyone -- health- and weight-wise. Atkins sells his own candy bar that's vitamin, mineral and nutrient packed, and there are lots of ways to make up for no sugar (or very little sugar). Splenda is a great sugar substitute.

ohio, he WAS on the sensitive side! Or just massively defensive. I think he was accusing me of what he was doing. ;-)

Remember Judge Pickering from Mississippi? Pat Leahy and his sour grape comrades on the judiciary committee refused to let his nomination out of committee. They voted him down in committee, along party lines, of course.

Anyway, W had renominated him and the Owens woman from Texas. They should get through the judidiciary committee and make it to the Senate floor where they should have enough votes to win the appointment.

I did hear what La Liz said right in front of the Bushes. Guess she hasn't heard about decorum. Travolta either. Two more of the weirdos strike out.

I watched the replay on CSpan and that followed with callers - I was shocked to hear only 1 negative - and that was from the "other" category. Every dem that called in made the point that "their leaders" kept telling them that the Bush plan was for the rich. One guy said something like " they are wrong - what I just heard the President say, covers the whole spectrum - there is something for everyone." WOW. People are actually listening to what the President says - and not just lapping up what the Rats are trying to spoon feed them.

Kudlow and Cramer on Chris tonight were fabulous. Cramer was nearly apopolectic (suprise) in his praise for this plan. They talked about that Gallup pole with Scarborough and Katrina (the B!tch) Katrina of course could only find fault. She is really Cruella de Ville.

Tomorrow night, David Frum is going to be on Chris' show. The one who just wrote that book. Should be interesting

Exactly .. and these Seniors want to start investing again so they can start making more money on the market

HECK .. I want to start investing again ..

And one thing these Senior hate is paying MORE taxes .. and I think many of them still remember the tax INCREASE Clinton pushed threw on them

Margie Margolis (sp?) was my Representive at the time and she SWORE she would NOT vote for this increase ..

Long story short .. Clinton talked her into it and now she is forever known as "One Term Margie"

"My son says Madeline Albright is the ugliest woman that has ever lived."

There was an old Seinfeld episode in which they were discussing the topic. Indira Ghandi was suggested; then Elaine, I believe, nominated Golda Meir (sp?). I think Maddy comes in third within that group. Can't figure out Helen T., but I'd guess she tops them all. Mostly because of her ugly attitude. Beauty may be only skin deep, but ugly goes all the way to the bone. Or emanates from it.

That's quite a household. You sure do have a lot of kids, and I imagine they all keep you very busy.

We have on persian, fluffy, and a lasa opso dog named Sofie.

Years ago, we had a cocker spaniel named sir skippy peanut butter (skippy for short) and a himalayan named cricket (he used to eat them)

That's the extent of the pets that we've ever had. Lots of fish, but nothing more. I like having both dogs and cats, but am more partial to cats.
