Thanks for those links; I especially liked the one where it posts their positions on judges and who voted for/against. It'll help me in my future letter writings....

It HAS already happened. She's in the group of 30......

He did not embarass me with what he said. I did not even think of the racist slant to this story untill the revs started talking to the press. So are you calling Bush a lier on FR because he said that he remained friends with Lott and that he should stay on as Majority leader.I guess Bush is as stupid as me in your eyes because I thought the same thing.
To: TLBSHOW
Who's trashin him? I didn't see nobody talkin about him but you. Truth ta tell he don't need to be actin up in the Senate. He is not in the best of circumstances at home. He has not been in good graces for a long time. He has made several of his family members rich. Not to mention himself. We don't need to go there and I want to let it rest.
To: Wingsofgold
If they don't, I might hafta run myself and we'd all be in trouble. :)
Stranger things have happened right? :>)

I don't mean to but since the Lott affair FR isn't the same as it was.Maybe remove the "L" key from your computer for a week and things would get bright again, TLB.
TLB-- Just forget about Lott and things might get normal! Start thinking about Syria or Iran. Become an expert on smallpox vaccinations.
You just need a new hobby. Besides former GOP Majority Leader-elects.

Here is what the President said about Trent after he stepped down.
December 20, 2002
Statement by the President
"I respect the very difficult decision Trent made on behalf of the American people. As Majority and Minority Leader of the Senate, Trent Lott improved education for the American people; he led the way in securing tax relief; he strengthened our national security; and he stood for a bold and effective foreign policy.
Trent is a valued friend, and a man I respect. I am pleased he will continue to serve our Nation in the Senate, and I look forward to working with him on our agenda to make America safer, stronger, and better."
George W. Bush

Lemme tell ya sumpin, then I'll shut up. Ms., bein the poorest State in the Nation, don't cotton to folks ridin in limos with personal drivers even, flauntin fancy hair dos, demandin offices and special priviledges, and on taxpayer money. That smacks of a democrat. We don't like it when we are reminded of a painful past that we've done the best we can to repent of and turn away from and never wanna go back there. To have an elected Senator act like Lott has and evidently IS still actin, don't set well at all. Now I'm tellin you the truth, and folks BACK HOME, (those lepers) have been gripin about Lott for more years than I like ta think about. Now where the rub comes in is, if the Republican party don't wake up, smell the coffee, and run somebody decent against him. I'm afraid we gonna see a State go Democrat. If Lott is demanding ML office, limos and drivers, etc., I won't vote for him again. To me, he is holding us hostage, again.

Cynicom, please reconsider.
Do you think that Gore would have nominated the thirty judges that were just resubmitted (including Owens and Pickering, for goodness sake)? Do you think Gore would have even given us 37 cents in a tax cut? Do you think Gore would have given us a stem cell decision which, although not strict enough for the most purist of the pro-life group, was nevertheless a large move forward? Do you think that Gore would have nominated a conservative black to the Civil Rights Commission and taken Mary Frances Barry all the way to the Supreme Court in order to defeat her? Would Gore have advocated drilling in the ANWR or refused to sign the Kyoto accord?
Would Gore have stood up for faith-based groups like the Salvation Army? Would Gore have rallied the American people after 9/11? Would Gore have encouraged reading and self-reliance for students?
Look at what we have been given, through God or fate or whatever you wish to call it. Look at what our alternate future could have been, with a President Gore. Can you seriously tell me they are exactly he same? I believe if you think about it, you will realize that although one can grumble about individual decisions (CFR, Education and Farm Bills), on the whole, there is a WORLD of diffeence between the two parties and the two men, even if you simply consider domestic policies.
Plus, we don't have Tipper running around taking photos and telling us about her depression. That alone should give me a few points!

And I do not mean what you ASSUMED; I mean where I said Bush was a liar.

I don't mean to but since the Lott affair FR isn't the same as it was.Neither are you. You trashed Bush and now you're trying to get out in front of the parade, acting like you support him; we all know you're a Bush basher now.
