"This is SO beautiful!"
Ditto! I can't think of anything better than this move! It's sending a HUGE message: "IN YOUR FACE, YOU ASSHOLE RATS"!

Not just the ones here on FR, but those who post their bravo sierra on other so called conservative sources do this stuff all the time. Some even write phoney conservative opeds with big labels of Palio Conservatives. I just call them old cons!
They say something and that week or next week, GW makes them look like the world class liars/idiots they are when he does the opposite of their lies.

Rush has no more of GW's ear than you or I have. He would like to pretend so, but he lost that when he was cutting GW down while pushing Bibi over Sharon last summer.

It's not only the right thing to do, it's good politics.
No matter whom Bush nominates, short of a flaming liberal, the Democrats will scream their heads off. So he'd might as well go with his real choices, real conservatives.
I remember reading that the blacks from his part of the country all agreed that he is an honorable and decent man. Now that the Republicans are in charge of calling witnesses, they can make a lot of that.

I believe the Judiciary Committee can just hold a vote..no need for another hearing, though the Dems are demanding one...send it straight to the Senate floor....and force a bunch of Dem senators to face the music......

This is excellent news/// Way to go President Bush.
We might have a pretty good two years ahead of us if we can stay focused on the job and keep the Democrats in their lemming mode.

There are no more actual filabusters, per se, you just announce that you're gonna have one, then you force the cloture vote...

I confess my guilt. I would much rather not have seen Lott removed under Democrat pressure. Not that I ever liked Lott, but it's usually bad politics to cave in to the opposition like that. However, if Bush now stands firm, the damage done from perceived political weakness will presumably soon disappear.

The Bush-haters are so disgruntled today after the President's great speech that they are dragging out all kinds of old Bush-bashing threads from long ago. It's just too funny.

Who are the other 29.....?
To: Dog
Most excellent!
A precursor, IMHO, to the President starting a REAL
national dialogue on race relations, culminating (I hope) with the filing of a brief AGAINST affirmative action in the U of M case.
