This is a great set of rules for any activist not just RKBA's activists.

BUMP for an oldie but goodie. Over the years, I have printed many, many copies of this and handed them out en mass at rallies and gun group meetings.

Good info ping - even though you probably already knew, consider it a cool refresher ping! I thought it was a good way to organize an activist group for the rigth reasons.

It is a good list of tips!
And I agree with "DON'T MESS WITH TRUE BELIEVERS". I think a good tip for us on the forum is, stop attacking Sarah Brady, and start talking to the same audience she is talking to. It is the audience we want, not her.
It frustrates me to see threads here where Sarah Brady or some other GCI type will say something, and all of the posts are either personal attacks against Sarah, or "SABER RATTLING ". Instead we need posts that describe an alternative to gun control that would be attractive to the lurkers out there who are on the fence. We aren't just talking to each other here, we are talking in public.
Stop arguing with Sarah, and talk to her audience as if you want them on your side. They are who we need to be convincing to! They are the ones we can win over, and they are the votes that count!
My idea is to take someone from the office shooting for a day, and talk to them about self-defense. -Someone who is not an activist, not familiar with guns, who fears them and doesn't see why we want them so much. By the end of a day shooting, I have never had one of them still want to take my gun away, and at least a couple of them, both women, now own guns. :~D

It surely is a classic!

I sent an e mail to the author thanking for the article. I don''t know who he is, but he sounds like he's had a lot of experience walking the walk.
I sort of regretted not being in Illinois and being part of the fight. What this article reminded me of was until Texas has a Vermont style CCW law, I can still continue to work for my Second Amendment Rights. The next step for Texans is to lower the fees for the license. Next would be lowering the training requirements. After that, who knows?

You make many good points in your post, but I especially like this part:
By the end of a day shooting, I have never had one of them still want to take my gun away, and at least a couple of them, both women, now own guns.
That's very cool. I tried to get a quasi 2nd Amendment Sisters group going among my girlfriends, but my time was dear and their interest was short. You inspire me to try that again. These are not women who are anti-gun, but rather untrained non-activists, who, with a bit of a gentle nudge - blown out targets, gunsmoke, empty clips and hot muzzles come to mind - may join the ranks of the top 1%.
The coworkers will take a little more scheming. Might have to offer food and drink.
Tiger, thanks for the bump and I'm bookmarking.

You might be surprised about your coworkers... mention that you went shooting or something. They may be more curious than you think, and have never had access or opportunity to be around a gun before.
And offering them food and drink doesn't hurt!
