Rush summed it up pretty good on his radio show today, saying that most liberal democrats are always "angry". And he said: "who wants to listen to somebody on the radio who is angry all day".

Interesting. However left-wing and anti-American they may be, I find that the European media, particularly the British variety, offer a unique and refreshing perspective on American politics.

Angry Black Male.
This may not seem to be relevant.
Today I read a column by a certain William Raspberry.
Mr. Raspberry takes exception to President Bush's Authority to wage War.
I cannot link the column here. It is apparantly not available from the Boston Globe's on line version.
I refuse to log in a new account at the Washington Post on line site. Thus I post here from my hard copy of todays Globe Editorial page.
The quote in the column that really ired me was this:
"The nearest thing to a Pearl Harbor like sneak attack on the United States was 9/11, which, despite President Bush's efforts to have us believe otherwise, had nothing to do with Iraq."
That sentence pissed me off.
Mr. Raspberry is absolutely wrong about these things.
I wanted to post the column here, but I cannot.
I needed to say something about it somewhere.
This thread seemed to me about the best place to do so.
It was at the top of the Forums list.

I first heard Rush about 1990 when I lived near Sacramento - I had read that he was a hate-filled Nazi, foaming and spewing invective. Was I surprised when I heard him! There's a couple things I don't agree with him about but basically I think he is a sweet man who is doing this country a tremendous service.
I remember some years ago he used to play a segment with some woman saying something like "Any woman who isn't attracted to you has GOT to be a lesbian!" And that was before he lost all that weight! I was almost sorry when he got married, even though I am happily married. There's nothing more attractive in a person, than having his head on straight and his heart in the right place.

I find the article to be a pretty good introduction of Rush to the Brits.
They have absolutely nothing to compare with him.
Would that some right-thinking Brit could overcome the regulation of the airwaves over there to attempt something similar. The same well of common-sense that made Limbaugh successful here exists in the UK.
But the right in England is apparently voiceless.
Probably wouldn't even have to be a Brit. They're much more accustomed to American accents over there than we are to British accents here.
Hmmm, I nominate Mark Steyn.

Rush is as much a threat to the status quo as a church mouse might be. His whole schtick of this grand struggle between liberals vs. conservatives is a joke. No wonder he needs his screeners to work full-time to keep out callers that want to inject his show with some reality. Got to give him credit though, he's able to fill a lot a lot airtime with a little substance mixed in with a whole lot of style that consists of promoting his own importance in the world.

In America, conservatism is currently king Best line of the whole piece.

I wasn't kidding its time for Rush to take over England.

Thanks for posting this- it was a surprisingly decent article...
( Although I kind of doubt Rush says "learnt"- that's a British-ism )

"Rush Limbaugh: he has 20 million listeners and is routinely portrayed as racist, ignorant and hateful..."
Oh really? Portrayed by who? The real racists as I'm sure you've already surmised. I'm not a big Rush fan, but it's clear to anyone who can read between the lines on his show that Rush isn't "hateful"; or if he is then who, and what, he hates clearly deserves it, something that "liberalism" forgot. It's OK to hate. Call him ignorant. Call him "racist" (what that means in PC speech as far as can be determined in 21st Century America, you are a "racist" if you disagree with a Democrat. Simple as that. Logic and common sense need not apply.

If you can do better, do it.
As Rush says
" Come on in the water's fine."
Jealousy, & envy are destructive (Liberal tendencies)
Build, don't tear down.
Rush is Rush. You my friend, are a whisper heard by no one.

"In America, conservatism is currently king..."
This guy is smoking some serious crack.
To: BfloGuy
If only the Brits had had a Rush... they'd be able to own guns and defend themselves today.
