An American soldier friend of mine was in the Viet Nam war swears that a certain TV reporter with a name like Scram Coddlesome wasn't happy about the story he was getting while on the ground in Viet Nam, and in the interest of needing more action to report on he actually cost some of our soldiers their lives.
I wasn't there, don't know this for sure. My friend is a tough SOB Marine and not known to be full of baloney.

The way I heard it, it was CNN who used the poison gas, on Jewish inmates in concentration camps, in an attempt to find a story that ressurect their sagging ratings. AP was the ones burning black churches in the south, to try to save their dwindling newspaper circulation.
