Earth Liberation Claims Responsibility For SUV Firebombing
Friday, January 03, 2003
On Friday, the environmental terrorist group Earth Liberation Army claimed responsibility for setting several SUVs on fire at Bob Ferrando Ford in Girard.
The claim was released on the ELFs website. The statement says the group targeted the SUVs to continue the fight to remove the profit motive from the killing of the natural enviornment."
The FBI says it is taking the fires very seriously. Four SUVs were completely destroyed when jugs of gas were placed under three of them and then lit.
The vandalism occurred just before 6:00 a.m. New Years Day. Police estimate the damage at $100,000. Owner Bob Ferrando says his insurance will cover the damage.
Back in November, the ELF claimed that it teamed with the Animal Liberation Front in setting fire to an Erie mink farm. The ELF also claimed responsibility for the August 11 fire of a Forest Service lab in Warren County, and claimed responsibility for spiking trees and setting a crane on fire in Winter Green Gorge last March.

When I was in college and there was an occasional peace rally or enviro-protest, a large percentage of the protesters were rich kids driving $35,000 Range Rovers, Blazers, and 4-Runners. How's that for ironic? I guess their "ethics" apply to other people only.

Homeland security had better be on to these kooks, and stopping their funding like all the other terrorists. Terrorism is terrorism, no matter what extremist group does it.
Bush needs to send out the feds to secure this nation from BOTH external and internal terrorism.
If he doesn't protect this naton from the crimminally insane, what good is a homeland security?
There's not much difference between destruction for Allah and the destructon for Mother Earth. They're from the same mentality. They both pray to planets made of rocks.

I just came back from a trip to Cuba, the closest we have to a truly utopian Socialist system.
The 1950s American cars, 1980s Soviet cars and various busses of all kinds were belching smoke like crazy. The pollution is way worse than it is here in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, even though the streets I was on were within blocks of the ocean.
Although I love Cuba itself and the Cubans, let's just say everyone should visit a Communist country at least once, to see how bad the system really is.

A lot of them drive ancient VW microbusses, which are about the least environmentally benign vehicle on the road today.

Why can't they be prosecuted under the Rico Act? My thoughts exactly, it may seem drastic but they need to arrest all of the leadership of these envirowacko groups. We have enough crap to deal with already.

If they have a website, they have assets. The insurance companies that cover those SUVs should seek civil damages from the website owner and everyone who contributes to the website. Bleed them dry. Criminally prosecute the perps who actually set the fires.

RE: your "Death Manual" link... The FBI, senators, LEOs, etc go after Militia who fight FOR the US, while gently ignoring these liberal terrorists who fight AGAINST the US. Go figure.

If these are enviro-terrorists are well-known - you do talk as though you know who they are - would you please publish their names?
That way we all would know who they are and something might be done to stop them before they finally kill someone.

Round 'em up. Tiger cages at Gitmo await. They can start with the homegrown terrorists listed HERE.

I am sorry you did not know. Past investigations have linked this group to PETA and another group I can't remember and others who publish their material and has records of money transfers to them. I am sure someone on Freerepublic can fill in the details on this.

Just raid PETA's offices and you get all the evidence you need.It was only a few months ago that the first spate of SUV torchings happened in Richmond. PETA is in Norfolk (or is it Virginia Beach?), a little more than an hour away.
A couple years back some PETA whackos drove up to Maryland, rented a dump truck, and dropped a load of manure at the front door of the World Bank.
A friend of my brother owned the rental company and had to spend a large amount of $$$ to retrieve his truck from the DC police. He was never compensated, and PETA used a secured credit card under a phony name for the rental.
RICO is right.
