Saudis gave Al Qaida $500 million and never stopped giving

Saudi Arabia has transferred $500 million to Al Qaida over the past decade, according to a report prepared for the United Nations.

The report asserts that the Saudi funds represent the most important source of financing for Al Qaida and that Riyad, pressured by leading officials, has failed to stop the flow of money to Al Qaida in wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 suicide attacks on New York and Washington.

The 34-page report was written by a French investigator at the request of Colombia, which occupies the presidency of the Security Council.

Jean-Charles Brisard, the investigator, was an expert on Al Qaida in France's intelligence service. Over the last year, he has become a consultant whose clients include the relatives of victims of the Al Qaida suicide missions in New York and Washington.

"One must question the real ability and willingness of the kingdom to exercise any control over the use of religious money in and outside of the country," the report said.

A key obstacle to the Saudi pledge to stop financing to Al Qaida is the lack of a definition of terrorism and legitimate charities. The report said prominent Saudi charities, supported by leading officials and companies, continue to finance groups deemed as terrorist by the European Union and the United States, but regarded as legitimate by the kingdom.

Much of the money received by Al Qaida and its founder, Osama Bin Laden, are relayed as part of the Islamic tenet on charity. Under their religion, Muslims are required to donate 10 percent of their funds to helping other co-religionists.

Such donations, have become "the most important source of financial support for the Al Qaida network,'' the report said.

The report contrasts with assertions by official spokesmen in Riyad and Washington that Saudi Arabia has made strides toward the halt in Al Qaida financing. In November, the kingdom announced a new regulation system of Islamic charities.

Amazing that the U.S. knows this and we still have to protect these sniveling cowards when they are threatened. Sickening!

Take up the U.S burden
And stamp on jihadi seed
We'll kick their ass
And take back the gas
And have just what we need

Saudi Arabia is the vortex of the jihad. They should pay full measure.

Meanwhile back at the ranch we do everything possible to stop the victim's lawsuit because it intrudes on our right to conduct foreign policy.

Didn't the sauds just say they would allow us to use their space for war on Iraq? I trust them with our soldiers and equipment...don't you?

Until we cut off the head of the jihadi snake and its source of funding in saudi, Bush's waronterror leaves a lot to be desired.

I know, wait til after Iraq....How much money has been sent over the course of the past year while Bandar frolicked at the White House and Abdullah and Co played kissy poo at Crawford.

Bush is going after muslim terrorists one country at a time.
It is a stratagy.
It would be foolish for us to attack all our enemies at once.
Saudis are on board to let us bomb Iraq using their airfields.
When Iraq is done and Iran falls under its own weight, the time will come to examine our relationship with Saudia Arabia.

During the Afghan attack leaks from the WH began to surface about our displeasure with Iraq...I'm seeing a pattern here.

In WWII it was necessary to kill sufficiently large numbers of the enemy nations' citizens and soldiers, for victory.

It was NOT a matter of cutting off funding. It was a matter of bombs, and dead bodies.

Eventually, it will likely be that history repeats itself. Bombs, and dead bodies.

Sooner rather than later would appear to be a favored timeline, for victory. Fewer dead for the victor, our side.

That's just stupid. There are many people who wear Turbans who hate Muslims.

Yes. We should conquer Saudi Arabia and pump enough oil to pay for the costs of 9-11 and the ensuing war on terror. Also, round up their devil-spawn in the USA and ship them back to their cesspool of a country. Then shut down all of their miscreant "charities" and imprison all players who were tangentially involved in supporting terror -- by OUR f*cking definition, BTW. All who are found to have been directly and overtly involved in supporting terror are tried by US Military tribunal and upon conviction, hanged, preferably by the entrails of a freshly slaughtered pig. Finally, bulldoze EVERY Mosque in the country, and mix the rubble with pig fat and urine. Then turn the country over to a western-oriented democratic governmental apparatus. Give them a copy of the Magna Carta and the US Constitution. That's all. Would you support me if I applied for Secretary of State?
