I was laid off back in March of last year from an aerospace company that I had worked for 14 years. It was difficult for me at first but it turned into a blessing in disguise. I found a better paying job with better benefits and much nicer people. I was only out of work for two weeks. I had seen the writing on the wall and I busted my ass looking for a job. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Of course good luck is when hard work meets opportunity.

I was laid off unexpectedly last year exactly one week before my wedding. I spent the next week bouncing between wedding plans and interviews.

Fortunately, I was offered another job, at a higher salary plus a signing bonus, the week after my husband and I returned from our honeymoon.

If I hadn't been offered another position in my field I would have worked wherever I could to make the mortgage payments.
