First, most people are really busy with the holidays. I know I sure have been. So?? If people aren't posting, perhaps they are busy. That could be a reason.
Second, I get the impression that you feel that someone or something is trying to take over the Canteen. Gosh, I've seen and heard this over the past 3 months and it's rather comical. If they really want the headache of putting up with so many people who have egos that even God can't control, I'd say they should be WELCOMED to bang their head against the wall.
Third, people could just be sick of the darn drama. They may think posting in here just adds to the drama. Not sure about it, but hey..we're humans. We have strange reasonings for many of our activities and pursuits. Perhaps, that's why MoJo never understands Europeans.
Fourth, you are the host. You spoke up and stated that you would keep the Canteen alive. Well, it's alive. I guess it comes with the terrority. Not everyone will be happy with the direction that the Canteen is going. I know that Snow Bunny probably got complaints everyday. I suppose that comes with the terrority. We don't see or hear those complaints. So? We don't know. It can get lonely. I'm sure of it.
It's never to late to say "I'm sorry" for anything. Swallow your pride and be done with it. Perhaps, if we all learned to do this..we can truly move forward. Having the "REPUDIATE THIS PERSON" is so liberal. (Even some liberals have more compassion than some conservatives on this board)
So? If you want opinions about how to make the Canteen better, welcome all suggestions. Even from those persons you personally can't stand. Perhaps, egos aside..things will get better for everyone.
Most important, I don't give a rat's rear end about whose stats are better. If military people are lurking, then give them something to enjoy. If they aren't, perhaps we could change it up a bit in here. For example, we went from having something each day a couple of months ago to having almost nothing these days. I'd love to see fellow Freepers honored again or Canteeners honored again on a special day. That would be cool. It wouldn't have to be Freeper Friday, but it could be something different. Like Canteen's Heroes! How about another day to specifically insult our enemies. I know that sounds vindicative, but Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein don't deserve our respect. They deserve a Daisy Cutter and anything else that can be hurled at them. Or something like that. The possibilities are endless.
You could do a Burka Man's day. Let Burka Man run the Canteen for a day. That would be a smelly hoot. Don't you think? LOL!
Keep in mind, you aren't competing with Snow Bunny. She had her specific ways of running things. You have to find yours. I suppose that it could be stated that it's the differences between the way a man and a woman runs things. If left to his own devices, my hubby would probably make the Canteen threads about football, football, and more football. That's great during football season, but awful during the beginning of baseball season. LOL! Just a matter of style.
Helloooooo to our troops, veterans, and allies wherever you may be. A big THANK YOU ((HUG)) to all for doing your part in keeping our country free!
There wasn't a whole lot of time for the Canteen. Gotta admit, I really miss that...hope everyone is doing better. Bentfeather, I'm so sorry to hear you're under the weather. I hope you get well soon...drink plenty of fluids and stay warm! Go back to bed and rest. We need your verse here, I'm sure the troops appreciate it.
What a beautifully written note, Kid. All of your expressed sentiments are so right on and what I, too, would wish for this great country of ours.
"May God keep our troops free and out of harms way. God Bless your families!!"
Thank you, MoJo, for these words we all agree on. And a special thank you to your husband for his service to our country in the Navy and hugs to you for your service as a Navy wife.

Air Force will pay $12,000 for bomb damage to home
12/28/2002
EL PASO - Gloria Aker got a late Christmas present this week when the U.S. Air Force agreed to settle a claim for damage it caused when it accidentally bombed her Monahans home in July.
Ms. Aker's home was hit by a dummy bomb accidentally dropped from an Air Force F-177A Nighthawk on a practice run from Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.
Although the dummy didn't contain explosives, it pierced the roof of Ms. Aker's home, flew across a bathroom, slammed through a wall into a closet and then plowed 6 feet into the ground.
On top of that, a device used to locate the bomb discharged smoke throughout the house.
Ms. Aker was at home with her two children when the bomb hit. Her daughter was at her side, but her son was in his bedroom, and she frantically called through the smoke for him. All three were shaken but unharmed.
Ms. Aker has been living with her parents while her house, 200 miles east of El Paso, is repaired. There are still a few things to be done, such as replacing carpet that the Air Force ripped up when it retrieved the bomb, but she is preparing to move back.
But the children don't have the same comfort level they once did in the house, she said.
"My kids are having a hard time. My son and my daughter have nightmares. They're not too excited about going home," said Ms. Aker, who said she also has bad dreams of something falling from the sky and triggering flames that engulf her home.
You're right about yesterday being a roller coaster news-wise. It kept my VCR and the printer a bit busy trying to get everything documented. More National Guard units called up today in TN. too. Unnerving altogether, to say the least. I've got prayers going steadily for all involved that they'll be safe.
Hope you're doing well!
Here's another way to send post cards, just visit MilitaryWives.com and follow the links. They let you add logos for things like units or ships. Here's a sample.
You can also pick from aircraft, WWII imagery, medals, insignia, rank, and scenery to build your post card. Here's a WWII example:
Kathy, ms. feather, I hope you're both doing a lot better today.
