Oh my god, I can't (well I can) believe Daschle is blaming the RIPs for this.

Let's take a quick peek back in history:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/792807/posts

The Senate and House passed separate legislation providing for extensions last week, with the House acting hours before lawmakers returned home for the balance of the year. But the measure passed included a provision related to Medicare payments to doctors that drew objections in the Senate.

Imagine that.

Bush has now sent a "very strong message" to Congress to extend the benefits and make them retroactive...

I am still waiting for evidence that President Bush has any intentions of cutting the size of the Federal government, or of trying to cut some of the waste, or of easing the burden on taxpayers, or of weaning welfare queens from the public teat, or that he has any sort convictions or ideals, or that he has a backbone, or...

Oh I know...at least it's not Al Gore; hell, Al Gore would have caved on the proposition that all those currently on the public dole should remain so, and that those of us that actually work and pay should support them. It's a good thing we have a republican in office. At least it was a republican that caved on the proposition that all those currently on the public dole should remain so, and that those of us that actually work and pay should support them. My wallet feels so much better.

You can expect huge volumes of such 'news' about unemployment, homelessness and evil 'assault weapons' in the next two years in an effort by the liberal media to help their Rat friends.

Democrats and labor unions, sensing political opportunity, are blaming the cuts on President Bush and Republicans in Congress.

Did I miss something or since when is there the International Brotherhood of Unemployed Whiners.

Let them "smell blood." The fact is that as jobless aid diminishes, the number of those needing it will also shrink as people find jobs. Unemployment aid encourages unemployment, the same way arson insurance encourages arson. It's called "moral hazard," and every economist in the world knows it as a fact.

Likewise, the 15 highest benefit welfare states had the . . . shocking! . . . highest numbers of people on welfare. The 15 lowest benefit states had the lowest number of people on welfare. This is common sense. Unemployment benefits do NOT help people get jobs, especially when they become permanent.

If unemployment benefits are good for the economy, then why are we still experiencing slow economic growth after two extensions of unemployment benefits?

Ya think any new outlet will couple this news with the fact that jobless claims went down last week for the first time since September 2001? I doubt it. Unemployment compenstaion does almost as much damage as it does good.

800,000 Jobless Americans to Lose Aid (RATS SMELL BLOOD)

AKA: 800,000 Americans have just about used up their allotted unemployment benefits without bothering to get another job. The Democrats managed to get the benefits extended in order to keep a pool of unemployed on hand for political purposes.

Nobody cares about this issue except the chronically long term unemployed who were riding the gravy train until the last drop.

Bush is just paying lip service to this, the extension is not going to happen.

A full time shift at Mcdonalds pays the same weekly as the max weekly unemployment benefit. People will have to get a job is all.

This is a non-issue to everybody except the stupid rats and their partners in crime in the press.
