The mother and stepfather should be burned at the stake or locked in a closet with no food until they die.
Since that isn't going to happen, I only hope they find the justice they deserve at the hands of the other prisoners.

I don't understand why Barbara and her family fought so hard to get the baby back and then not take care of her. I am really glad the mom and step-dad are locked up. Too bad somebody couldn't tie them up in their prison cells and deny them food and a chance to bathe. I guess that wouldn't be 'humane'.

Eight months later, Calhoun, apparently prodded by her own parents, decided she wanted the child back. What in the world??!?!?!?! Where were these loving grandparents for the last 7 years???? While the parents sit in prison, the child should sue the grandparents for imposing their expectations on this family and then just walking away.

This article contains so many heartbreaking passages, I can't just quote one or two. I cannot conceive how those two monsters could commit such evil to a little girl.
I sincerely hope their life in prison will be brutal, miserable, humiliating, painful and very long.
And I hope this precious baby's life is happy, joyful, free of pain, full of love and acceptance, and very long.

This story shows in very stark terms what humans are capable of, both good and bad. Thank heavens the girl is in good hands now and is adjusting. I imagine that it will take a monumental effort on behalf of her new parents to return her to normal - sounds like they are willing to make that effort and are doing a good job.

Even honest criminals won't want to be around this filth when they go to prison.

The judge should be shot...
Not advocating violence, just stating an opinion that the legal system would be much better if criminal-abetting pieces of trash didn't preside over so many of the courtrooms...

Take both of the scumbags, flay the skin one inch at a time, roll them in salt after each episode.
After you have removed all the skin one time, flay all the skin, roll them in salt, then do a slow hanging.
It's all they deserve.

I couldn't finish reading this, it's just to horrible to know people can treat anyone, let alone, their own child this way.

First, God bless this little girl and these wonderful people she's currently living with. The Lord has a special place in heaven for those who love, comfort, and take care of His children after such barbarism.
Secondly, there is a special place in Hell for abusive parents and all who are cruel to God's little ones. I hope these two demons find their way there only after some of their fellow prisoners take their time inflicting massive pain on them.

A world beyond her closet prisonUpdate ping on the little girl locked in a closet her whole life. Like a poster above me says, this has a whole lot of heartbreaking and eye-opening things in it. It will really make you think. This little girl must be something special.

"I only hope they find the justice they deserve at the hands of the other prisonersReally, you'd think that their fellow convicts would ask/ 'why are you here?' Wait'll a guard tells that womans fellow convicts why she's there. J. Dahmer's way of getting whacked in prison was too kind IMO.
