Pro:
Rep. George Nethercutt (R-WA) was disgusted by Murray's words. "It borders on negligence. It borders on misinformation. It borders on a lack of sensitivity of the state of the world that surprises me of a United States senator," he told the Seattle Times.
Con:
Murray explained her comments: "While we continue to search every corner of the globe to destroy Osama bin Laden... should we also consider the longer-term issue of what else can be done to improve relations with all nations including the Arab world?"
Vote.com will send your vote to Senator Patty Murray

""They can't imagine this great guy who builds schools, and hospitals and whatever else would want to hurt anyone"
I don't think that line of reasoning works well with anyone who has lived (died) under his version of Islam.
Schools? Centers of learning and free thought? Right. OBL and his ilk were into power and suppression of all people, and killing westerners for not other reason than hatred.
Bottom line: The US has done more for so much longer. And this fact still knocks the stuffing out of your agreement with that silly woman.

Patty Murray should not apologize, she should resign. She is a moron.
To: concerned about politics
She certainly should apologise to our nation!I missed this when it broke but I guess I don't see why all the fuss.
From the quotes I could find she just said that BL used charity to secure a popular base (we do the same, in the billions in foriegn disaster relief to the billions in military aid). I didn't see that she was actually promoting the creep just showing how he won such popularity, what's wrong with that?
Side Note...Hitler came to power in a similar fashion..by my stating that should I "apologise to our nation"?

For some reason the image of the wispering Wormtongue being thrown down the steps in The Two Towers comes to mind.
The Wormtongue Left sounds like a great book title too.

"...they have another thing comming"
The phrase you wanted was, "...they have another think coming".
Good grief.

"They can't imagine this great guy who builds schools, and hospitals and whatever else would want to hurt anyone"
This is complete balderdash. The "schools" that OBL funded were for terrorist indoctrination and training. Some of the "schools" that the Saudis fund in the USA are also terrorist indoctrination centers.
Where have you been?!?!?!?

This is truly asinine. Both Hitler and OBL gained popular support mainly by stirring up hatred. At the time some addleheaded Americans praised Hitler for his autobahns, which became part of his offensive infrastructure in WWII.
Patty Murray's remarks are even more extreme than this. She identified OBL's terrorist indoctrination centers as "schools". She truly doesn't know which way is up.

I just voted that she should apologize, but I agree with you completely - she should also resign. Also, 91% say she should apologize. When I remember the folks who died on 9/11 .....

if you don't know sarcasam when you see it, you need to work on your reading comprehension

We don't want her to apologise. We want her to resign or be recalled. I am from the Vancouver, Wa. where she had her little lesson with our school kids. I checked the local papers this am, and the Colombian had more email than EVER on the story but the Seattle papers where Murray is from hardly covered it at all, despite the nationwide anger about her comments. They buried what little they printed way back. Good old People's Republic of Seattle!!!! They control the vote in the state of Washington, or Murray never could have been elected. Cantwell, also a liberal, almost didn't make it, but due to recount after recount, pulled it off. I doubt if it was legal since noone checked. The DNC with the unions control pretty much what goes on.

BS ... Both Hitler and BL gained popularity thru social programs...jobs in particular. Hitler more so than BL but both along the same lines. It wasn't until they had gained the support and patronage of the people that they began directing them towards their ends.
All I got from here statements that in essence a "one attracts more flies with honey than vinegar" type of statement. Never said that I agree with her nor do I think that her statements should be policy just that it is a rational statement.

Trent Lott insulted Black Americans. Murray insulted ALL Americans, including Black Americans. What Murray said is far more reprehensible.
