Washington State Senator Patty Murray Praises Bin Laden Chris Vance, Chairman Washington State Republican Party December 20, 2002 If you haven't yet heard, Patty Murray has made outrageous comments about Osama bin Laden and the United States. Here's what happened: Yesterday, The Columbian newspaper in Vancouver reported that Murray told a group of local high-school students that Osama bin Laden had done good things for Afghanistan and the Third World, and asked whether the people of poverty-stricken countries would have a better view of the United States if we had followed bin Laden's example.
Here's an excerpt from the Columbian article:
" 'We've got to ask, why is this man (Osama bin Laden) so popular around the world?,' said Murray, who faces re-election in 2004. 'Why are people so supportive

Pattys praise given pass
History was recently made with the premature resignation of Republican Senator Lott from his majority leadership post. Regardless of the side taken on the Lott controversy, most agree his actions; whether perceived thoughtless, deliberate or politically manufactured caused his demise.
Why then will recent anti-American sentiments spoken by Democrat Senator Patty Murray to high school students be excused or hidden from public scrutiny?
Many similarities between the two faux pas exist. Adjectives include, outrageous, insensitive and demeaning. Outrageous, because of the many events that took place in our nations history; including September 11th that has changed our national mindset. Insensitivity was shown by Lott towards a race of people and their history. Murrays insensitivities were hurtful to a nation and families that lost loved ones by an evil mans actions she considers praiseworthy. In addition, in denying sacrifices made, both individuals words were demeaning to Americans.
Lott was held accountable for actions, his party required to be held responsible as well. To some his actions will forever hold the Republican Party hostage. Apologies will be unacceptable. Will Senator Murrays anti-American rhetoric hold her and her party captive? Will a censure be required or asked for? Will apologies be needed, given or accepted?
Please note, Lotts words spoken off the cuff to honor retiring 100 year old Strom Thurmond. Murray suggests her words were planned to incite thought. One was spoken in passing, the other deliberate.
Which statement would you get more bang for your buck? Current history tells us that one party will not defend the indefensible, the other relying on interpretations of words such as, IS. However, the main reason for dismissal of the albatross is where you come down on the political spectrum. Fortunate for Patty her tennis shoes are placed firmly in the politically correct direction.

Patty Murray said something even more inexcusable than Trent Lott. But unlike the GOP you won't see the Democrats clean up their own political house by asking her to step down from her party position.

Why then will recent anti-American sentiments spoken by Democrat Senator Patty Murray to high school students be excused or hidden from public scrutiny? Why, indeed? With Senator Lott there was a week of media coverage. With Senator Murray there isn't even weak media coverage.

MEMO to Patty: Have you EVER heard of something call the f%#@ing Peace Corps?
What a looney left-wing, anti-American clown. Our nation is the most freaking generous nation on earth. Our government and private charities do all sorts of things for poor around the world.
When you get down to it, the old Soviet Union built roads and schools in the Third World-- and those schools were to teach everyone to hate America and love socialism. And just what kind of schools does Bin Laden subsidize? Those schools teach kids that people like Ms. Murray (i.e. women) should be shut up and oppressed.
I find her moral equivalence exercise odious.
