I have never been a fan of Arlen Specter so I will admit I am a bit biased against him. What ever his acheivements or dealings with others in the Senate I found his remarks this afternoon on NPR (Yes, forgive me for even listening to those lefties) to be totally outrageous.
He was asked what kind of alarm bell this was to the GOP and what should be done about it now that Lott has stepped down. His reply (to be fair this is not word for word) was to the effect that the whole GOP has to change or this will endanger it and the Presidents re-election.
Change from what???? When in the heck are we going to get GOP members who stand up and demand that the liars about the GOP have not a leg to stand on when it comes to the racism that the GOP is often falsely accused of. Point out to me where the GOP supports any such thing???
We can list racist after racist in world and find just as many of them on the left as we do on the right yet who gets the tag for it??
Arlen Specter, if you even get this from one of your staffers I am totally embarrassed at your bending over for the left and apologizing and saying that we have got to change. Your tone was one that admitted to something we are not guilty of and your sentiment a lable for us all. Next time, point out how we differ by bringing people up and out of poverty unlike the left who loves to keep them there so they will remain disgruntled and keep re-electing the very people causing most of their problems.
The GOP is the party of Lincoln, Senator, remember what he did?
The GOP is the party of individual acheivement not entitlement.
The GOP is the party of inclusion and unity not balkinization.
The GOP is the party of limited government not Big Brother.
The GOP is the party of responsibility not trial (ambulance chasing) lawyers.
The GOP is the party of truth in advertising, not cheap rhetoric meant to lead sheeple.
See theres your error, you thot Ole Spector was a republican. What a relief, now you know he is a democrat.
Yuk, yuk, yuk. Good point. I had completely forgotten about Sphincter's "Scottish law" remark. As Laura Ingraham would say, "What a pantload this guy is."
Great name you've assigned to him too. He's very deserving of it.
I realize that the GOP needs to have a majority in both houses, . . . but, if ever two people needed to leave the Republican party, it is Sphincter and Lincoln Chaffee. I don't want them to go to the Democrat party either. I was thinking more of some place like hell.
BTW, do you have a good name for Chaffee.
dep
Unfortunately, he is planning to run again. However, he may have opposition in the primary. I hope he loses. He is an embarrassment to Pennsylvania.
If he does, it won't be by choice. He has said that he will run again in 04, and he has a huge bank roll already. But he will (and he has even admitted this) for the first time in his career, face a serious, in fact, very serious primary challenge. Pennsylvania conservatives have had it with this hustler. I'm betting this is Arlin's last term. Even if he gets the Republican nomination, there is now way in hell I'll ever pull the lever for this smuck again. If the PA Dems get smart and run some middle of the road pol like Casey or Klink, Arlin is toast. For every one of his elections, Arlin has been blessed to be up against thoroughly left wing Dems who don't have a chance in Pennsylvania. The guy has never had a challenge.
BTW. Arlin was a Democrat back in the good 'ol days when folks like Orbil Falbus and Geo. Wallace and Lester Maddox were fellow party members. He only switched to Republican in the late 60s.
I'll admit it...I'm weary of this discussion.
But, one more time--What did you think we were saying when we allowed a false, malicious and race-baiting charge to unseat the Republican Majority Leader?
All Republicans are now guilty. What else did you possibly expect?
SPINE! So, now what to do, take lumps?? I will not, and I out right will demand this of every GOP member in office from town clerk to President. It needs to be stuffed back in their race-baiting hatemongering face.
