Wow lady, sure glad am not up working in Prudhoe Bay today!!! One time we worked for six weeks at pump12 mile post #62(between Glenallen and Valdez) and it never got above -24 for a daytime high!

Yes, that was one of my early mass communications attempts, and we were actually getting some traction when 9-11 knocked it into a cocked hat. My friends at the soon to be defunct Firing Line lent a hand as well.

There are 5 houses in a row...the Englishman lives in the Red house...the Spaniard owns a dog...Coffee is drank in the Green House...the Russian drinks tea...The Green House is to the right of the Ivory House...the Old Gold smoker owns snails...Kools are smoked in the Yellow house...the man in the middle house drinks milk...the Norwegian lives in the first house...the Chesterfield smoker lives next to the man with a fox...The man who smokes Kools lives next to the man who owns a Horse...the Lucky Strike smoker drinks orange juice...the Japanese man smokes Parliaments...the Norwegian lives next to the Blue House.

Each man is of a different nationality, has one-colored house, one type of Pet, smokes one brand of smoke, and one drink.

Which man owns the Zebra?
Which man drinks water?

If she lives near "Stowe" then she lives near "snow." LOL! I knew what you meant! :-)

My Dad and I rode the ski lift up to the top of the mountain there. I must have been around 12, so we're talking about 35 years ago. It was scary because when there's no snow, you are WAY up in the air!

We got really brave and the next year (I think...it was soon after) we rode the ski lift up to the top of Black (?) Mountain in upstate NY. I may not remember the name of the mountain, but I DO remember it was so high, there were ***two*** ski lifts! Mom and my older sister waited at the bottom for us! :-)

I would add that all of their drinks/pets/smokes are unique. There aren't 2 people who have zebras, e.g.

When I was a little girl growing up in Vermont, there was one of those mechanical rope lifts where a rope was circulated up and down the mountain on big wooden pulleys like a huge clothesline. You hung onto the rope and slid "UP" the hill. It was pretty neat.

I would not have been able to find the puzzle solution without the help of algore's internet. One note: it has been observed that there are two solutions to the puzzle, if like in the Hebrew, the houses are numbered from the right, instead of the left as most of us would do.
