Yeah but Lott didn't get Clinton so who cares?

This is going to keep happening until someone stands up and says "Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?"
This McCarthyite "racism" charade has gone on far, far, far too long. It's time to end it.

Hillary klinton has MUCH to fear from Sen Nichols, and so does Trent Lott. This is a man who takes no prisoners; who performs his job as senator with passion. He not only does not fear daschle and klinton, he is smarter than both of them put together. And they know it. And so does the press. The press will attempt to hurt him first because he is the worst case scenario for the swarmy leftist creeps.

And they say the D-RATS don't have a destruction machine and the press doesn't have a left-wing bent.

Lott is a jerk, but we can't afford to back down to blackmail and extortion.
As I've said before, Democrats, Arabs, and yellow dogs are all the same. If you back down, they'll jump on you.

We have to take this garbage on. There's no other way to stop it.
Yes, and about time too. But some have wanted to stick their head in the sand and pretend that there was no controversy, and then feabily offer up lame explanations. That ain't leadership; that's Trent Lott.

The libs pushed me off of the fence on this the issue of whether Lott stays or goes. I say he should stay. Not only to PO the libs but also he's now our "satellite dish" for all punditt criticism of our party.

Wouldn't it be nice of Nickles answered the race-baiting lynch mob by saying something like, "Yeah, I'm against affirmative action.......and I fully support John Ashcroft, unashamedly......and I'm against minimum wage laws......and I fully support the 2nd Amendment......and I believe the slavery reparations movement to be a crimminal enterprise.......and I hold these views with conviction, without an ounce of guilt."

TLB...
Perhaps the democrats would loan the pubs a decent senator to be acting majority leader until such time as the pubs get thru cleansing their ranks???

I am convinced that the Republicans can find several in their caucus who can withstand a detailed investigation of their civil rights records.
Senator Frist especially since he was never active in politics until right before his election in 1994 and his reputation is sterling. Plus, he is a doctor, and just about everyone trusts a doctor. I know, I know, I am biased being from TN, but I still think he would be great.
I just wish there was some way I could imagine Lott surviving this. While I agree he is not the tough bargainer I would like in there, I will hate that he loses his post over a stupid offhand comment. It just doesn't seem fair.
