Not an attitude, my friend..I'm merely posing a question for discussion....don't think the very issue is being discussed..the Dems are already trying to smear Nichols....and they'll continue to do so......sadly, Lott has caused a great deal of damage to the GOP.....

Anyone who interpreted Lott's comments at the party to be racist, is themselves a racist. Period.

If Lott wins, he'd get to appoint his own replacement.

Is there any rule about a Mississippi Governor appointing himself to the Senate?
Haley, once he is elected would be a shoo-in for re-election..

Republicans are not going to win most Blacks, over, you're right.
But what concerns me is that it looks like, and I'm only an entertainer here, folks, that Trent is going to go so far in trying to prove he is not racist that he will back legislation that is neither necessary or helpful, but that just looks good, the old Demo ploy.

Valid point..except that it smacks of political expediency, and what happens if Lott loses the governor's race.....

Lott's being forced to dance, by the black establishment and some rabid conservatives. You are soooo funny! It is the fault of 'rabid conservatives' that Trent Lott is dancing to the race hustlers tune?...LOL...that's ridiculous on the face of it, sinkspur.
WE want him out of the Leadership and OFF television. He's making an ass of himself..and as long as he is the ML, he is managing to make fools of all of us by extension.
Hope it's over soon, so we can actually go back to preparing to govern as the majority party.

LOtt's a goner....but it won't be Frist, Nichols, or McConnell....it'll be Santorum....on the merits, and also geography.. I like Santorum.

If another vote is held, it will come down to who is the most palateable to the Northeastern RINOS...yeah, them again...sucks to think it, but they have to be courted.
To: Lower55
I don't think Lott's comments were racist, just incedibly stupid.
To: ambrose
I'm probably dense.....but could you please outline a time line for your proposal.....regards..+

He certainly didn't end up being popular, but he did achieve his agenda.
But it may have backfired on him with the election results.

I want him to go away.

Santorum is NOT a RINO, my friend.....solid conservative...strongly pro-life....and he shown that in a swing state like PA you don't have to soften your beliefs....also, he's very articulate and photogenic......Nichols isn't......and that's a problem in media driven politics....

Well, once the Mississippi governor's race is over, Lott could resign his Seante Seat (if he lost), and the governor would have to call a special election in 90 days or by the MS 2004 primary, which Haley could run for. Any appointment would only be for that 90 day period, according to MS law.

...is themselves a racist...Mock use of Ebonics is racist.

Hmmm... I've never seen BET before, but having just tuned in a little early, I certainly have Trent to thank for widening my horizons concerning music, clothing and dialog. "I'd like to give a shout out to all my nickels!" (Did I get that right?)
