"why are all these scumbags from the deep south are so klintonite..."
All is a mighty big word. My Senators, Sessions and Shelby, are neither scumbags or klintonite! But Lott is! Perhaps you can name other scumbags from the deep south.
By the way, even before seeing Lott's sorry performance tonight, I had e-mail my Senators suggesting that Lott be replaced as SML. Even e-mailed Trent himself, asking him to step down.
Lott is liked a runaway backhoe - he's not just cutting the phone lines, but also the electric, water and gas lines, too. My apologies to all backhoes;-)

Well, that was the shortest 'election victory' honeymoon in history.

Your attempts to prove your silly point actually serve to counteract your position.
The left's attempts to smear Republicans (the boogie man you are holding up as our punishment for not defending the indefensible Lott) will have exactly as little traction as your false accusations towards fellow FReepers that they are racists...none.
They just make you look vindictive, which is exactly the position the race pimps will find themselves in as they try to continue with their shrill attacks.
Demote Lott and the new ML can immediately begin a proactive agenda that will lay the groundwork for further gains in 2004.

Lott should never have gone on BET. PC wins again. This appalling spectacle won't win a single black vote, but it will prove to the race baiters that Republicans are scared stiff of the black caucus and the racists like Jackson & Sharpton.
The Republicans, including Lott, played right into the liberals' hands by not just telling the PC thought police to back off on day one. By apologizing, soul searching, pandering, and doing the patented "GOP Grovel", they've assured that Lott will be smeared as a racist and that the GOP will lose momentum.
Lott's birthday comment was perfectly harmless. No one said a damn word about it until Jackson & Sharpton started the PC furor, and Republicans melted.

"Because James Carville said so..."Good stuff. Who do you write for, Saturday night live?
You owe me a new keyboard. Slupped Iron Ciry Beer all over the old one laughing.

"Bush could have nipped this thing in the bud, by cashing in some political capital with a hard hitting statement on media bias.
"Wonder why that was not forthcoming? I know the answer."Because 1: to do such a thing would be morally wrong, and 2: it would be perceived by the public as a polular president using that popularity to prop up cowardly, sniveling idiot and political opportunist...and the public would be absolutely right.
People have tried to defend him. People have tried to throw him a proverbial rope to pull himself out with, and he hasn't taken any opportunity he's been given. This is Lott's mess. Let him clean it up.

It's such a bummer.....we were all getting on so well too! Now people are calling each other racists and the whole thing has gone to pot. Thanks, Trent!

Thanks EV. I'm going to let it go for tonight. I've been very upset and angry over this whole attack. I've never liked Trent as ML and could have strangled him for caving on impeachment, but this attack on a man for trying to flatter an old man at a birthday party smacks of the "Red Guard" treatment. It turns my stomach. It doesn't particularly matter whether Lott is a racist or not. The last time I looked our Constitution guaranteed everyone freedom of speech.

If you were in his shoes, and had been railroaded out in a whirlwind, would you say "thank you, please sir, i want some more"? hardly...give the man his dignity.
No one has any right to ask a thing of Lott anymore. He has been abandoned by most and for that, he ought to be grateful he still may get a committee? Sure thing....To ask that is of him now is indecent.
To: habs4ever
You just love to twist the knife, don't you? If I do, it's because you are still advocating that Lott take the most petty, self-serving, destructive path he could possibly take...a path that would take the GOP down with him.

may seem unfair to you I happen to think it is WRONG to paint a person as a racist who isn't a racist just because James Carville and his kooks say he is. Everyone seems to play along just like HE KNOWS you will time after time. It has worked so well over the years WHY STOP NOW?

Well stated, but it's not that easy. When you have to prove a negative, and the dems, the press, and even some in your own party is against you, it's tough to do.
This same attack can be trumped up against any on our side and there's nothing we can do to stop it. If you don't believe it...stay tuned. It's coming. Big time. Some of us will even jump on the bandwagon.

Are you people aged any over 10? This thread is disgusting. That is deep. Let me ponder that for a bit.

I don't fall for your nonsense. People who know me know who I am. As for you, I could care less.

"I'm for affirmative action and I've practiced it. I've had African Americans on my staff and other minorities, but particularly African Americans, since the mid-1970s."I am catching up on the thread and did not see this interview. This is an exact quote??!!
