I wonder if Lott thought this through. How could he possibly think that pandering to the NAACP agenda is going to solidify his position with 51 GOP Senators?
To: dogbyte12
Ed Gordon asked him if he'd reconsider the Pickering nomination in light of what has happened......he said he would.
To: dalebert
Gawd no. Ick!
To: ewing
ED: What if President Bush asks you to step aside?
Trent: I believe that would be a mistake.
Ha!

Yes, i want to know what he said about Pickering too.
THIS IS A FRIGGIN' NIGHTMARE!!!
To: dogbyte12
Ed asked Lott if he would rethink his support for Pickering, And Lott said "Yes" and then went on giving a mild show of support for Pickering, I might have jumped the guna bit on that assumption

I can't believe this...he is NOW being portrayed a the reformed racist and talks like he is therefore some kind of expert on the subject. He was just a "racist" a week ago. Who is going to fall for this? The folks who fell for Bubba's Prayer Breakfast? Jimmy Swaggart's congregation? Everyone who bought a ThighMaster?
To: Hazzardgate
Ok so Lott is going to abandon the race neutral approach of the GOP and toss Pickering aside to save his job. Any Lott defenders left out there?
To: Jorge
*lol* Maybe that is why he went further than saying he was for affirmative action, and actually said he practiced it.
To: Hazzardgate
After Lott sold his soul....the rep from the CBC just said he didn't go far enough. This is a disgrace!

what a sorry bag of garbage...he better shut his big mouth up and get the hell out...
it is aMISTAKE to have the gop conference on jan 6th...
if LOTT resigns - this is get out of the senate (not just leadership postion) - in YEAR 2002 - there will be a special election 90 DAYS after his resignation..
if LOTT resigns in Jan 2003 - there will be a replacement for him appointed by the gov. of Miss. till the Nov, 2003 election...
get lott to decide if he wanna stay or if he wanna get out NOW - he is a sorry bag of crap, he has done enormous damage to teh Republican Party - time to throw him off the cliff..
he is willing to say whatever, do whatever just to keep his job - why are all these scumbags from the deep south are so klintonite...

Where are all the Lott defenders on FR? It ain't about Lott.
It is about a political party that does not know how to use the power when they have it.
Instead of pointing out the media's known double standard, our President leads the girly men pubbies in an orgy of hand wringing.
Bush could have nipped this thing in the bud, by cashing in some political capital with a hard hitting statement on media bias.
Wonder why that was not forthcoming? I know the answer.

I want Lott to go, and I'm the person who first posted above about how Lott sold out the GOP agenda on affirmative action.
But in fairness, I didn't hear him say he would kill the Pickering nomination. He said that he knows Pickering's heart and that he is a good man.
To: dogbyte12
Lott will never be forgiven by a racist like this man who is speaking now. This whole thing was a waste of time and only made things worse.

How many dumb moves will Lott make? Meeks will eat him for desert. This is a set-up that Lott could have avoided. What an idiot.
To: Hazzardgate
You're kidding!?!
He sold Pickering out too, praised affirmative racism?
Please, please, W and GOP - nuke this guy NOW! He's killing us all!
Aaaaaagggggghhhhhhh
