Melanie Hunter, the Deputy Managing Editor of CNSNews.com reports that in a letter addressed to Steven Miller, director of Exempt Organization of the IRS, political activist Rick Sellers charges that more than 300 churches took part in partisan political activity in Louisiana.
These churches, Sellers charges, assisted Senator Mary Landrieu in her recent attempt to defeat Republican candidate Suzanne Terrell.
I would like to bring to your attention IRS illegal activity in Louisiana during the recent United States runoff by more than 300 churches in support of Senator Mary Landrieus campaign, he wrote.
Sellers attached three newspaper articles from the Times Picayune and the Washington Post that detail the fraud:
First, the Times-Picayune (12/2/2002) reported that Landrieu spoke as a candidate to 800 parishioners at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
Shed been going to churches every Sunday for the last couple of months, Seller said.
Second, the Times-Picayune (12/6/2002) later reported that, Landrieu has been getting help from a coalition that claims 300 historically black churches in New Orleans.
Finally, in his Washington Post column (12/5/2002), George Will quotes Congressman James Clyburn (D-SC) on how he taught churches to use vans for campaign activity.
Let me tell you what street money is, he says. You go to a black church and say, We want to use your van on Election Day to get voters to the polls. You want it Sunday we want it Tuesday. So the campaign pays the insurance for a year and hires as a driver a Deacon Jones, whose name is on the vans insurance policy, the column read.
Sellers commented that it doesnt say where he was talking about but he was in Louisiana. And he talks about how they have a method of where the campaign buys the church van and then they share it. Well thats absolutely illegal too.
Sellers charges that, The law was fragrantly violated, and the outcome would probably have been very different without this illegal Church activity.
Once again, another Democratic victory is compromised by fraud.
1. The Pope is Catholic....
2. Bears s**t in the woods....
It doesn't matter. A win is a win, no matter how it's gotten, as far as the 'Craps are concerned.
Well, at least nobody got drowned or shot this time. It has been worse.
Hmm, but was it a good fragrance or a bad one? :)
We're slowly getting there; however, we got snookered by vote fraud in South Dakota and now in Louisiana. This should be remedied by 2004 and the reason I think Gore bowed out for 2004 . . . he can no longer get away with voter fraud to get him elected.
P.J. O'Rourke said that Santa Clause was a Democrat and God was a Republican.
