Leave Our Holidays Alone Sandra Hartle 12/12/2002

Every year at this time the atheist, and whoever, crawl out from whatever rock they hide under most of the time with their barrage of complaints about Christmas and the icons of the Christian Religion.

Well I have some news for you folks, this country was founded by Christians, and continues to be 85% Christian in it populous. That's right we are the majority. Not you. So I am going to write this article, and then I am going to make every effort I can to put an end to the minority running over the top of the majority in this country with their cries of fowl when it comes to anything Christian.

This means that 15% of the total populous of America is either some other religion, or they practice no religion at all. That of course is their choice and that choice is protected by the Constitution of this country. However, so are the rights of the remaining 85% of the population’s rights protected by that same Amendment.

Let's look at what it says:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the

I (a non Christian) agree with her sentiments. Merry Christmas to all you folks who celebrate it!

I do wish the author had hired a good proofreader, though. The word is "populus" as she uses it, not "populous" as she spells it. That kind of error gives fodder to the left to paint conservatives as illiterate rednecks.

There are so many efforts to make this a generic season. The best thing to do is just what you did. Keep saying Merry Christmas and keep the focus on Christ. That's why we celebrate.

Merry Christmas to you!

#13, you are absolutely wrong that the Founding Fathers were not Christians.

If you will research them you will find MOST of them were Christians. You don't have atheists having a 3 hour prayer to start the conventions and Congress if they didn't believe.

Just as an example... Benjamin Rush (who started 3 universities that are still around today) said that the reason to have public schools is so they can learn to read so they will be able to read the Bible. He insisted we use the Bible as textbooks.

Noah Webster... when he make his dictionary used Bible verses to give examples for the words. 27% of his words used Bible verses. The fly leafs had verses printed on them so as not to waste space.

You need to learn YOUR history. Please!

Dashwood, have a safe and pleasant Holiday Season. BTW, as a Christian, I celebrate Christmas as the time when Christ was conceived in Mary's womb, and it His life support for us, through His Cross and resurrection, and mary's life support for Him that began with Christmas of His conception. He was born many months later, in late summer or early fall.

Yes, I believe in God ... I just dislike dishonesty or ignorance.

You might find it beneficial to read some original source materials...I cannot imagine non-Christians writing what some of the founders and framers of the Constitution wrote. In fact, the following is attribited to Ben Franklin, often considered to have been a Deist:

“In beginning of the contest with Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for the divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard—and they were graciously answered. I have lived, Sir, a long time; and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings that ‘except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.’ I firmly believe this; and I also believe that, without his concurring aid, we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel…”

I am mainly concerned with the idolatry of certain practices. They have become a great lever for the Left to use in subversion of our civilization and the crumbling of the foundations in American society.

I was listening to Roy Masters the other night when he mentioned some sentiments analagous to mine. Masters gets a lot of criticism from many, but I have found him quite intellectually honest and instructive.

I am not a part of any cult of personality that has grown up around some commentators, but will say some have more credibility than others. Masters is one of those.

Fowl!  Fowl!

Foul!  Foul!

>>I am an atheist, I have not once complained about the Christian practice of Christmas. I have questioned the Christian practice of Satanism on Halloween:

You see the hypocrisy of celebrating Christian events on Satanic high days.  Too bad so many Christians don't see.

Lu 16:8 And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

I wonder how fast such stores would do an about face if the 85% of us who are Christian would boycott them at Christmas, and let them know it?

you may not say that the founding fathers were christian. They were not and many of them were actively opposed to christians.

I suggest a google search and some research is in order for you. Unless you prefer to sound like a robotron.

I suggest you try history books. Unless you prefer to be a robotron. Are you a product of public schools?
Life is bigger than one page excerpts written by a billion nobody’s. In fact our nation was founded by Christians, and you can count the anti-Christians on one hand. Try the federalist papers or any History book written before the 1960’s.

For an interesting experiment, then read a history book from today’s classes as dessert. You will find it quite interesting how much history has changed in the last 50 years… (Concept, history is not what you make of it) Unless you prefer to be a robotron. My guess is you are a product of public schools?

Thank you. While I tend to be quite sympathetic to the Puritan distate for the Pagan holiday myself, I still think it is a wonderful time of the year and enjoy celebrating it; I think it is not wrong to simply have a holiday......but I won't pretend that it is a religious holiday anymore (not that it ever really was to the point that it should be). But, I love it anyway....I have started playing my Christmas music....:)

Shalom!

Sir Francis Dashwood,

Blessings to you and your Household for a Merry Messiahmass and Merry Christmas!

Your statement on post # 20...(A "pagan" is anyone not Judaic, Christian or Muslim.)

The above statement is Not exactly correct Sir.

Muslims are...PAGANS, they Do Not Worship the Living GOD Of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - THE Holy One Of ISRAEL - EL Shaddai.

Muslims Do however, worship, bow down and pray to man made IDOLS:"allah" is a moon "god" small "g", and that black "stone" in Mecca is worshipped night and day.

A review of The Ten Commandments in Sh'mot/Exodus 20:1-26 will clearly point this out.

As you are fully aware...these are EL Shaddais Commands, Not Suggestions, we are to conduct ourselves rightly and Live by them.

As a Jewish Born Again Believer in Yeshua HaMoshiach - Jesus The Christ/The Anointed One, I can tell you that Islam no matter the Stripe or Clan has anything to do with Scriptural Judaism or Scriptural Christianity: Messianic Judaism.

The Islamic Pagan Heresy began around 632 A.D., after the death of Muhammad a false prophet with a long history of assorted Detestable practices including Opium addiction and Pedophilia, Rape and the Murder of Thousands of Innocent people, and the Death toll has risen dramatically to Millions over the Centuries.

And for these very reasons I could Never accept or call any PAGAN - Muslim or otherwise my Brother or Sister.

I would in my human frailty try to love them in the way Yeshua/Jesus has commanded me to...Love Unconditionally.

Thank You for your informative post, I will go over it again later.

GOD Bless You.

Yes, Thomas Hobbes did have a decidedly Puritan slant to his materialist observations and philosophy. I think the body of classical literature that is Leviathan is sorely in need of teaching.

Your statement on post # 20...(A "pagan" is anyone not Judaic, Christian or Muslim.)

The above statement is Not exactly correct Sir.

I am referring to the primary secular dictionary definition. You do have a point that Thomas Hobbes and I both agree with here...

Muslims Do however, worship, bow down and pray to man made IDOLS:"allah" is a moon "god" small "g", and that black "stone" in Mecca is worshipped night and day.

Phantasms and phantastical images/idols.

There are erroneous definitions and contraventions to accepted etymologies. Is it purposeful?
