Pandering to racist RATS and not standing up for the people who actually VOTED for Bush will not work any longer either. There's a panderer underfoot and it ain't GWB. I started out thinking a mountain was being made of a molehill, then waited in vain for Lott to adequately address this situation. It is a question of competence
I heard on Brit's show last week that Lott was blowing this whole thing off until President Bush's statement. Until then any criticism was being waved aside. I read an article yesterday that the man was at a Holiday party given by Sam friggin Donaldson and making light of it.
I agree with the poster above, the hubris is what is doing him in.

"Is that really how you want to be remembered, as the man who did the most to harm the Republican party since Richard Nixon? Why can't you have the grace and decency of others like Gingrich and Livingston?" "Gingrich and Livingston were not branded as racists by you and the red-meat conservatives.
"You call me a racist, then you want me to give a damn about the Republican party?
"Ef the Republican Party."

I'm voting for McCain if Lott retires.

"You call me a racist, then you want me to give a damn about the Republican party?Nobody is calling him a racist, they're calling him a boob.
Still I concede the result may be the same and he may set off into the sunset for Mississippi.

Two points: #1 Numbers. Even if Lott quits the Senate and the Democratic Gov of MS appoints a Dem the numbers are still 50-49-1 - Republican majority. #2 Trust. This administration will squander the good-will and trust of many loyal Republicans (plus swing vote) if Lott stays. The republican party since Reagan has slowly been changing to publics perception of what the party is made up of in ideas, beliefs and principals. If we can't police our own this will be a major step backward in (voters eyes) the goals we have to be an all-inclusive party.

If we lose the Senate (we wont) then it is what we deserve for standing behind a loser in the first place. Lott has never been a friend to conservatism, and I thank the rats for getting rid of him for us.

Good move. This may mean that in the backroom meetings of the last few days it has been decided that Lott must go.

I want Lott replaced, too. But will he stay in the Senate if he's replaced? How vengeful would he be against the party?
I'm thinking that once he is replaced, we will finally see, once and for all, whether Lott has EVER had genuine conservative convictions, and whether there's an ounce of character and integrity in him.
To: rightwing2
If Nickles replaces him as I hope he does, the RATS will be facing a much tougher Majority Leader who is going to play hardball with them on the Senate reorganizing resolution and will probably beat them at their own game. Exactly. My comments from an earlier post:
"We need to make the Democrats pay for this by giving them a new face as Senate Majority Leader who is tough and won't wimp out Lott-style. It should be a "be careful what you ask for - you may get it" kind of a lesson."

I hate to remind everyone, but I told you. LOL No you don't, InnocentBystander.
I thought I recognized you before, but wasn't sure.
How many incarnations have you had? How many times have you been banned?
Lott's not going to quit. If Nickles forces this vote, Lott will lose, and he will quit.
And, you can hug Tom Daschle once again.
BTW, Nickles' past is being scoured as we speak. We'll see what the race pimps find on him. He's an opportunist, that's for sure.

It shows that you don't listen to the blacks on our side already. What makes you think you will ever reach any of the that are now outside the party! LOL
Go ahead shoot yourselves in the foot! The rats aren't playing they are going for our throats, wimps is the republicans and white fear is the reason!

you wrote "Lott has stated he would quit the Senate if pushed from Senate leader."
As far as I can tell, this is a myth/rumor with no supporting evidence. There was a loooong thread about this a few days ago, but I saw no real evidence for it on that thread, either.
I also heard that one of Lott's confidantes said that there is no way he would quit the senate.
So...it appears that if he is ousted from the leadership, he still retains his seat. If you have solid evidence that he will quit the leadership, I would like to see it: name of the reliable source, date he/she said it, to whom, and where.
Thank you.

When President Bush gets through letting the RATS(like kissing up to Hillary Clinton) run over him I guess his conservatism will be tested also. He hasn't stood up to any of them including the trashing his nominees get. I'm getting more angry about that than what Lott was supposedly THINKING.
Let's hire Mary "the snake Carville's wife" and maybe they will LIKE us. Not a chance in hell will they EVER get it. All the campaigning the ENTIRE Bush Adminstration did didn't win the Louisiana election for Republicans.

If that's how Lott would respond, he would sink even deeper into ignominy.
It isn't necessary for others to call Lott a racist. His own repeated statements brand him as either a racist or at the least someone so insensitive to racism that he has no business in a leadership position.
