WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Bush administration has prepared a list of about two dozen terrorist leaders whom the CIA is authorized to kill if capture is impractical and civilian casualties can be minimized, senior military and intelligence officials said.

The previously undisclosed CIA list of targets includes Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden and his chief deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, and other principal figures from Al-Qaida and affiliated terrorist groups, the officials said.

In answer to your question: Never.

You'll be audited by the IRS first (opps! that was the previous administration) or wacked by the FBI ( opps! also the previous WACO administration).

Hate to break the news, but OBL is nothing but a patch of green mold, visited only by an occasional maggot.

Also known as a cave painting by Jackson Pollock.

"Newbie" signed up 2001-08-13, but hasn't posted anything. Were I feeling paranoid, I might finger someone as a possible sleeper account established by our ideological opposites.

To answer your question, the war on terrorism has already been directed against civilians who disagree with the administration's policies. Wellstone was assassinated by a UAV before the elections, the FBI has reconstituted COINTELPRO in an effort to disrupt minority PACs, and CIA has been secretly feeding Al Gore trace amounts of LSD for the past year or so. Authority to do all this is codified in a classified annex to the USAPATRIOT act declaring Bush Summus Imperator Dictatorque.

My question is: When will this kill by decree be directed at civilians who dissagree with Bush's policies? When will the "war on terrorism" be directed at us if we don't like the government?

Good question.

Although, I do agree with the CIA assassinating foreign leaders. Cheap, effective and stop wars quickly :)

Assassinate is such an ugly word ---- with it's origin in Arabic.

Main Entry: as·sas·sin
Pronunciation: &-'sa-s&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Medieval Latin assassinus, from Arabic
hashshAshIn, plural of hashshAsh one who smokes or chews hashish, from hashIsh hashish
Date: circa 1520
1 capitalized : one of a secret order of Muslims that at the time of the Crusades terrorized Christians and other enemies by secret murder committed under the influence of hashish

It appears that our adversary, can kill only when high on Hash, or freaked out by his voodoo murderous religion that promises him a piece of female ass in the afterlife... Goats must be compliant - but boring....

We have the advantage here -- we have no shortage of men that can kill in sober, deliberate and cold blooded concentration......

In the old days, some folks simply referred to the killing of a designated "troublesome" individual - as a whineless whack...
Meaning there would be no written order, no investigation, no report and no complaints lodged..

The name "hashiyya" was probably given to the Nizari Ismailis by the Sunnis purely as a derogatory active measure. IIRC, the Nizaris are presently one of the most progressive sects of Islam. Their leader, the Aga Khan, lent his house in Geneva to Ronald Reagan for the summit with Gorbachev. In exchange, he asked only that Reagan feed his son's fish.

We have the advantage here -- we have no shortage of men that can kill in sober, deliberate and cold blooded concentration.

They have a great deal of sober, deliberate, and cold-blooded killers, too. Our advantage lies elsewhere.

When you possess the most precious goods on earth -- freedom and liberty in a beautiful Republic, with protection from the Contitution, it will be DEFENDED at ANY cost...

And yes, our defense of this nation - will be found by some to be horribly "offensive"..

Tough shit. Just duck!

We assassinated Admiral Yamamoto in WW2. We also assassinated Reichsmarshal Heydrich. That's what you do in a war. We will also assassinate OBL and other Al Queda terrorists in this war. Are you an Al Queda terrorist? Don't worry then.

You know, Travis, I've always thought that classifying the killing of Yamamoto as an "assassination" was rather elitist.

Killing a senior officer whose name is famous should be no different in war than killing some poor E-Zero draftee whose name is only known to his mother and three other people on Earth.

If we get intelligence that a column of one thousand enemy E-Zeros is on Highway X, we have no moral qualms about bombing them to Kingdom Come. Why should we feel any differently about bombing their Commander to Kingdom Come if we receive intelligence that he is on Highway Z?

Our family has been mixed between officers and enlisted. It seems wrong to me to classify some of us as legitimate military targets while giving others "professional courtesy" simply because of our rank.

If you are waging war against a country, you are a legitimate military target whether you are a Seaman or an Admiral, whether you are an expendable suicide bomber or one of Osama bin Ladin's top lieutenants.

So, sablefish, to answer your question, if being "an enemy of President Bush" means you are actively waging war against American citizens, you will be targeted for killing and your killing will be a legitimate act of war. That is not an "assassination". That is an act of war. If you do not want to die in an act of war, you will eliminate your chance of such a fate at the hands of the U.S. military by not waging war against the United States.

Quite simple really.

I can't think of a better way to spend the money than on defense since the main job of the federal government is homeland defense. And if you don't think our offensive action isn't a defensive measure, then you had your head in the sand for the past ten years, and especially, 911. Would you rather wait until the terrorists hit your neck of the woods?

Considering that we will have to protect civilization from millions of insane murder cultists armed with WMDs, 9X may be too low.

Or, we can merely roll over and surrender (see "France" aka "Eurabia") and submit to Allah (Islam means "submission", not peace).

Of course your daughters will scream a bit as they get that little genital procedure done (to prevent their filthy lust from surfacing) but what the heck, it's a beautiful "religion of peace", right?

Yes. To guarantee we won't lose to a tyrant. That's expensive. Where did you get the idea that legitimate defense means not spending more than the next guy?

We don't try to conquer anyone.

You know what sablefish, you are right. There is no reason to spend so much on defense, we can end this war on terror easily, and without war.

We just need to submit to Allah, and Al Queda and the other millions of devout Koran believing Muslims will have no problems with us, for we shall have willingly entered the "Dar al Islam" or "House of Submission", and will no longer be an enemy of the Umma, or Islamic world.

Of course, if we resist, we will either win, or face the fate of tens of thousands of Christians in Indonesia, give a little read of what they are facing, without the enormous US defense budget to defend themselves.

*************************************************************

"MARINA Rumakur had two choices: renounce her Christian faith and convert to Islam or be killed. "They told us we must convert or they would cut our throats," recalled the shy 14-year-old. Like hundreds of other Christians she fled into the jungle when her village on the tiny Indonesian island of Kesui was attacked by Islamic militants.

The threat to Marina’s life was genuine. Two teachers from a neighbouring village had already been beheaded when they refused to convert. "So we knew we had no choice."

Worse, however, was to come. More than 900 Christian men, women and children from all over Kesui were forced to submit to ritual circumcision as part of a campaign to purge the island of its entire Christian population.

The brutal forced conversions mark a new low in the religious war that has raged through Indonesia’s Spice Islands for the past two years, claiming the lives of more than 5,000 civilians. Christians say the the attacks on the village were led by the feared Laskar Jihad, the self-styled "holy warriors" who arrived here from Java last year to take up arms on behalf of their beleaguered Muslim brothers. As they descended on Karlomin village, the white-robed warriors let out a cry of "Allahu Akbar" or "God is Great", the trademark battle cry of the Laskar Jihad.

After surrendering, Marina and the other villagers were marched to a mosque in the Muslim village of Amarlaud where they were ordered to wash in preparation for conversion. The few belongings they had brought with them were searched, and their Bibles and prayer books were taken away and burned. Marina fought back tears as a small gold cross, her confirmation gift, was ripped from her neck.

Outside the mosque, warriors stood guard with rifles and spears as the Christians knelt and recited the simple prayer marking a convert’s entrance into the Islamic faith. Glancing up, some saw the barrel of a gun aimed straight at them as they stumbled through the unfamiliar words.

For the next week they were kept prisoner in the mosque as the imam observed them praying five times a day.

Despite that, they were told their performance had not been satisfactory and that they would have to undergo a further ceremony. No one dared ask what it entailed. Men and women were separated and led away to a curtained area at the side of the mosque. When Marina’s turn came, she was told to remove her lower clothing and made to sit in the lap of one Muslim woman while another performed the circumcision.

The rusty razor blade she used had already been used on several other women without being disinfected.

"The razor was covered in blood," Marina recounted. "I was trembling and crying so they told me to close my eyes." The women told her that the cut would be "no more painful that an ant bite." That turned out to be a lie.

"The blade was so blunt that they had to cut again and again. It was so painful that I cried out," said Marina softly, hiding her face with her hands. Her six-year-old sister, Emiliana, was the youngest to be circumcised. "It was worst for her because she is so little. She cried and cried from the pain."

******************************************

I am sure the women in your family will be glad to be "purified" with a razor blade, since it will be for the cause of peace.

Officials said the CIA, working with the FBI, the military, and foreign governments, will seek to capture terrorists when possible...

Shame the media, the Red Cross, the Human Rights Commission, AND Jimmy Carter will ALL miss out on the eventual capture....oops... assassination of Osama Bin Laden...
