You deleted a really good example of liberal sponge mentality and "bite the hand that feeds you"ism.

The answer to the problem of homelessness is easy: When someone is homeless, give them a home. This is the wealthiest nation in the world. Not one person ought to be living without the comfort and the basic right of a safe and comfortable home, family, food and health care. Easy enough! And while you're at it, give them a car, give them a well paying job, give them 6 weeks paid vacation a year, give them free education, give..give..give till it hurts!! Golly Gee, we can help everyone!! Just throw money at the problem!! (BARF)

Yep.
Also, advocating a solution to the homeless problem: give the homeless houses.

When are we going to become aware of the tragedy of the beerless people?
The answer to this is simple: if a person is beerless, give him a beer!
To: Billthedrill
Sounds a lot more palatable! :)

I've really got to laugh.
Homelessness disappeared from the press for eight years, from 1992 to 2000.
For eight years, no one complained while SUVs and gas guzzlers multiplied between 1992 and 2000.
Clinton invaded Haiti, blew up an aspirin factory in Sudan, and bombed Belgrade, and only a few pacifists complained about any of that.
Now that a Republican is in the White House, the Fearless Press is in attack mode once again.

How many homeless people have you invited into your home? How much have you paid per month for their food and health care? Feeling uncomfortable now? You should. Socialist Dolt.

Then they will need things like satellite TV, waterbeds, automobiles, computers with high-speed internet access, etc.
THANK YOU ZOT....

Warning! My comment is a fit of individual picque, IOW, a vanity post.
I know you are having some fun but what is the point in posting this dreck? Susy is wrong-headed sitting on her ass waiting for the Revolution to come; she better get busy and get hers.
This was edifying to me because I was ignorant of my rights. Susy wrote, "This is the wealthiest nation in the world. Not one person ought to be living without the comfort and the basic right of a safe and comfortable home, family, food and health care." Now, this right to family where do I sign up for a family? Where do I pick up my wife and my kids? I'd like to get 'em before Christmas, would that be okay?
What sort of editor chooses to publish this crap? Seriously, what was she thinking in saying, "Sure, Susy, we'll print your opinion piece!"
Unfrigginbelievable! Humbug!
To: BureaucratusMaximus
You failed to read the punchline, sir. Susy is homeless herself. So she is at a distinct disadvantage in giving shelter to others.

As long as it is someone else's money, of course.
I rarely meet a liberal who freely gives more than a token amount to charitie. To the charge of being greedy and stingey, I simply challenge them to match their copy of their 1040 showing charitable contributions against mine. If they can beat me in either percentage or amount, I will give them $20. I have never had a single one of them take me up. Instead they usually shut up and slink away.
To: thegreatbeast
I'd like to get 'em before Christmas,You might want to rethink that. There isn't much time left for shopping and you don't want to start off as a crappy giftgiver, do you?
To: Blood of Tyrants
You certainly would have beat Al Gore in 1998--he gave $270--how generous. The next year he gave a lot more. Not because he became generous, but because the press got a copy of his 1040 and he was embarassed.

When someone is homeless, give them a home.Oddly enough, I tried this experiment last winter. It was very intertaining having up to a dozen former homeless in my 1000 sq ft house, garage and basement.
They are out now, although occaisonally one will drop by and thank me for helping them, and just to say hi. Mostly they were good kids, in trouble. Having a warm place to sleep, and address to put on an employment application and access to a shower and laundry facilities was the leg up they needed.
Mostly they respected my room and personal property. I did lose some minor stuff, but I think on the whole I made a positive difference in some of their young lives. And mine.
I really appreciate my own good fortune, having seen so many examples of how bad it could have been.
That being said, there are REAL REASONS some of them were homeless...
To: richardtavor
He didn't really give more out of his pocket, he only donated money from a book sale or something.
