Because he is a Racist? If not then you should be defending his honor in the face of the lies.
Nice try, but no stogie. The people who voted for Lott as their senator are the ones to demand that he resign, not me. As majority leader, however, he speaks for the party to which I belong, and I believe he is unsuitable for that leadership position.
You know why you won't? Because you know he did not mean what everyone is implying and you want to keep power.
Nice try at putting words in my mouth. I have made my reasons perfectly clear, as have many columnists on this matter.
If Bush said it you would say everyone was putting words into his mouth and that he was talking about States Rights (Which Lott was)
Nice try again. States rights is a noble concept that was horribly fouled and stained by the Dixiecrats and the bigots in the South at the time - and to this day, if you mention states rights the statists can simply declare that states rights are equated with segregation, because of the likes of the Dixiecrats. That is one reason why this is so important - Federalism is slowly coming back from the dead, and then Lott up and pulls this, which will only serve to discredit the concept.
Because he is a Racist? If not then you should be defending his honor in the face of the lies.
I do not know whether Lott is a racist or not. He has made statements that can be construed as such, but only Lott knows for sure. But, more importantly, this was the most stunning display of poor judgement that he has shown - but there have been many others, and I don't want a leader who cannot think enough to realize when he is going into a minefield that can damage more than just him.
