"I am hoping that they have found a way to make a deal with Sharpton."

Oy vey, I'm afraid that they've found a way to make a deal with Sharpton. That's what Lott always does—cut a deal with the Democrats that advances their agenda, in return for a temporary cease-fire from the media's destruction machine. If Lott wants to stand up and fight, fine; if he wants to fall on the grenade and step down from the leadership for the good of the party, so much the better; but if he wants to sell out the conservative agenda yet again just to save his cushy office, no dice.

Majority leader. And it makes sense. The PC is in Pascagoula, and I don't think he'd come home to resign a leadership position. No way he resigns from the senate.

"Isn't there an all black college that no whites can attend? I can't think of its name right now."

I can't either, but are they publicly funded by tax dollars like 'Ol Miss. was? I don't think so...

Southern blacks didn't have many options in 1948 other than all black colleges. If they choose to keep it that way, how many whites are really being deprived of an education?

"You are right on the money, FRiend. Lott is just as big an anchor now to Republicans as Klintoon is to the Dims."

Heck...he was that big an anchor before he opened his mouth at Strom's party.

Hmmmm Truman v Thurm V Dewey....Looks like Dewey should have won........because Truman and Thurm were racist back in 1948

This spectacle regarding Lott has me so ticked that I have had to turn off the news and get off the net.

I saw what he said. I heard his words and the context in which they were said. There was no race card played.

The media driven bull crap is another liberal attempt to manipulate the republican party.

Well, they may just get their friggin wish. They may just get a stronger and much more devious leader of the party as Senate Majority leader!

I don't particularly like Lott. I believe he is weak, as his defense against this media attack suggests!

He in no way is racist. He is a states rights advocate! He just was not clear about the association in a room full of people who he thought would make it without his mentioning it.

O'reilly is now on my serious crap list, as is every conservative talking head that has failed to defend Lott on this. (and that is a bunch)

As a result, I am totally rethinking my list of people that I consider having any balls!

The conservative movement is now full of weak kneed pollywog's!

All you have to do is mention the word race, and they run for cover!

Screw them all!

The only miracle I want would be Lott graciously stepping down as majority leader today, and stating he will not seek reelection when his current term is up.

Sometimes there is just a right thing to do and a wrong thing. The politics of this aside, both as the descendent of Southerners and as a Republican, I think there is no place in public life for a man who has consistently espoused openly racist sentiments over the past 40 years. Not once, not just a long, long time ago, but over the years pretty consistently. He's gotta go.

Funniest Lott quote so far "I was 7 years old when Strom first ran for president. I don't really remember anything about the campaign." --

Wednesday, Dec. 11 on CNN.com.

Hey wirestripper, calm down dude. We know that Lott is not a racist, but that is not the point. The point is that Lott has become a serious liability, and it just plays into the hands of the Dems who want to portray us as a bunch of gun-toting, pickup driving, tobacco chewing Neanderthals who drive around and look for the nearest black man to string up on a tree.

You have to understand that perception is reality in politics. As Rush said, this Lott comment has given the perception that all Republicans, conservatives, and especially Southern conservatives are racist bigots. Because his statement is really indefensible (and stupid), he has to go.

If you consider States Rights racist, then you are not a true southerner nor a conservative.

You have bought into this media feeding frenzy!

Think about it!

"Thomas Sowell, or Armstrong Williams. ARE DEMOCRAT HELPERS AND FOOLS"

"Caller now says on Rush that Lott stays to keep the rats up set."

You do realize that Rush is a close personal friend of Thomas Sowell don't you?

Rush also said that Lott's remarks were indefensible...

I have to shut my 'puter off now and hit the road, but I appreciate your input there. I agree his comments were not racist, and I HOPE he'll clarify his comments accordingly.

See ya'll later!

If Lott is to be replaced it should be for the right reasons. Not because the press and liberals whined.

EXACTLY.

Here are some good points from the Federalist.

"In other Senate news, Leftist Demo-gogues are trying to give legs to an old race card after Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott praised retiring South Carolina centenarian Sen. Strom Thurmond at his 100th birthday bash last week.

Albert Gore charged: "Trent Lott made a statement that I think is a racist statement, yes." (Algore knows that his own father spent his Senate tenure as a segregationist.)

Of course, Lott meant nothing more than to offer a few kind remarks to an old political warhorse. He is no racist. And, like Lott, Demo Carl Levin had kind words for Mr. Thurmond's presidential bid. Where's the outrage?

All that having been said, our longtime readers know that we are not members of Lott's booster club! In our opinion, "Chester" was at his best back when he was a cheerleader at Ol' Miss, and it has been downhill ever since. Lott has a long history of pandering to the Demos. To be generous, Lott is a liability for the Republican Party and has no place in the leadership of the Republican renaissance. Given his pantywaist record of leadership, if the Democrats had a lick of sense, they would do everything they can do to keep Lott right where he is.

We are puzzled as to why any Dem would want him removed. It will be in the best interest of the Republicans if he is. We can then get someone progressive like Sen. Nichols in there, someone who would further the Republican ideologies, and who would not take all this nonsense from the Dems.

But NOW is NOT the time for Sen. Lott to resign. Maybe in 4 months,.. later.. he needs to defintely resign from the leadership position, but later. NOT because Maxine Waters and company want him to. NO WAY!!

I would like him to announce that he's switching his registration to Democrat in order to absolve himself of any perception of evil. It would be a hoot to see what the Dems response would be. Would they say "No, we don't want him in our party"? I don't think so.

this Lott comment has given the perception that all Republicans, conservatives, and especially Southern conservatives are racist bigots. Because his statement is really indefensible (and stupid), he has to go.

This is precisely what has me upset. His statement was never meant to be taken this way. The attacks on his weakness as a leader are legitimate, but the Rats are using the race card to paint the republican party even though the card was never played.

This is another tactical defeat for the republican party, which has been out maneuvered by the rats on this. It makes me sick!

When will it stop? Who will be next?

Any one of us who believes in states rights and wants to take some of this power back from the federal government now just as vulnerable as the Confederate flag.

The term States Rights, is now racist!
