"you just have to hope that the other guy understands his best interest."
The only way to negotiate with terrorists is to kill them. Before they kill you! The terrorist's only fear is that he won't be able to terrorize anymore! Only way to make that happen is to kill him!

Reagan was no failure. He led the country, Jimmy almost ruined it.
To: Marysecretary
and besides that Reagan wouldn't be trying to negotiate peace in a place where peace isn't wanted!

Wrong Wrong Wrong...Nothing Justifies Terrorism! You must be some kind of liberal! Trying to appease and debate and justify the killing of innocents!Quote me Cochese, quote me where I justified terrorism. Quote me where I justified killing innocents.
Some kind of liberal my ass. Killing, and killing, and killing some more has consistently failed to win either side of that conflict any sort of lasting peace. The fight is stupid, the killing is idiotic, and to continue is futile. The only way out is to negotiate a way for both sides to live in peace.
And if negotiation of any kind is only for liberals now, then we're in deep trouble.

Ok so you're ignoring the fact that Jimmy Carter has shown nothing but gross incompetence with his decisionmaking.
If you were running a business and you had an important deal that you had to secure, would you hire someone if everything they touched turned into something that resulted in the opposite of what was intended? Would you deliberately hirely the most incompetent person to speak on your behalf?

Only a war for Israel to win.If there is nothing but war, then it is a war that Israel can not win while maintaining any standard of humanity.
By putting his sorry nose where it don't belong, Carter would only to serve to help the Islamo-fascists.
Who else is stepping up to end the conflict? It's a sorry day when I have to pin my hopes on Carter, but there's no one else to do the job.
Who the hell's side are you on? I know whose side Carter is on-the liberal loser anti-american American.
I'm on the side that wants to see an end to the fighting. Our side. Carter's a liberal, but if he's anti-American I've yet to see any evidence of it. Or is dissent anti-American now?

It is a complete fiction that Jimmy Carter is this great grandiose peace maker. This fiction was of course is reinforced by that farse of giving him the Nobel Peace Price. One must also remember that Yasser Arafat also received the same award and he is hardly a peace maker either. Carter's peace making efforts are the niave efforts of a man who is perhaps even more niave about the ways of the world today than he was when he was president. The Camp David Accords, resulted in what. An end to a conflict between Egypt and Israel? Then why is Egypt entrenched in a ballistic missle program today. Most surely to target Israel while pretending to be for peace. Also look what happened to Egyptian President Sadat when he signed the Camp David Accords. Then there was Carter's North Korean peace deal which the North Koreans clearly treated like a piece of toilet paper and ignored anyway. Carter is not a peacemaker. Just a sad niave fool who still doesn't get it.

I can just imagine how that would go:
Jimmah: "Alright, please sit down and the negotiations will begin"
Sharon: "Okay.."
Arafat: "You took my chair you infidel! You miserable, worthless Jew!"
Jimmah: "Please, please... come to order."
Sharon: "You can have the chair if you want. It makes no difference to me where I sit."
Arafat: "OH RIGHT! You have soiled it now, zionist pig! Just keep it, it's no longer worthy of me."
Jimmah: "Please, please.. Gentlemen."
(Pause)
Jimmah: Okay, now here's the deal. Sharon, you and your people move to Canada. Arafat, you buy lunch."
Sharon: "What? That's it? That's your plan?"
Jimmah: "Yep.."
Arafat: "This is completely unacceptable as it is written, the Jews pig-dogs must submit to being cast into a volcano. Only then the negotiations can continue. Now, if you will excuse me I am going home to start the intafada."

I would hire the man in the best position to do the job. Past record nonwithstanding, I'd hire a dirty hippie off the street to do the job if I thought that he had the best chance of affecting the situation positively.

The only way out is to negotiate a way for both sides to live in peace. You're right, I agree! Just remind them here of Jimmy's role model Neville Chamberlain - that'll make 'em shut up! (Also, see post #25!)

Negotiation doesn't have that good of a track record in this conflict either now does it? Another way for there to be lasting peace would be for one side to decisively win in this conflict and IMPOSE peace through strength. If you don't think this is possible, look at history. A democratic society called the United States of America not only imposed peace through strength following an overwhelmingy decisive victory, but it actually helped its vanquished enemies(see Germany, Japan, etc.).This isn't WWII and you can't win the kind of victory that you're talking about. For every Palistinian you kill, another child(or 3)grows up hating the Jews who killed his father. Given those circumstances, and given the fact that you have to live with Palistinians in your country after the war, the best option is to negotiate a peace that both sides can live with.

I agree with much of what you have said, and do believe that "hate" (in its' truest definition, should not be applied). However, I HATE almost everything he stands for. His so-called Christianity is one of those things. He calls himself born-agian Christian, then disagrees with most of the Bible, and says he thinks Christ is not necessarily "savior" of all peoples.
Carter, like most liberals, thinks HIGHLY of HIS opinions, even when they disagree with someone appointed by Christ to take the Gospel to the gentiles (Paul). Carter is SMARTER than Paul you see. Carter is SMARTER than 2000 years of theologians.
And like ALL appeasing liberal fools, he cannot SEE his error. He hasn't blinked an eye since it was learned that North Korea LIED to the old fool (and the world is a FAR MORE DANGEROUS place because of this HUGE error in judgement). He has NEVER admitted that his photo-op Camp David accords did NOT bring lasting peace. He has yet to come to grips with the fact that dictators KNOW a fool when they see one, and to not to make too fine a point about it, the Iranians RELEASED our hostages one hour before a REAL president took the oath of office. (America KNOWS a fool when it sees one, and Reagan trounced Carter in one of the most loppsided elections in history).
Carter, in his mind, is a great man. A man with a clear vision. He is, in reality, an old appeasing fool, a self-absorbed, meddeling old woman, and as Churchill once said, "Appeasement, while not treason, often has the same effect".

Judging Jimmy Carter for who he is, how is he is in the best position to do the job.
All of his "feel good" politicing did nothing but delay problems until they stewed into something much greater than before. Cases in point: Iran, North Korea

You're right, I agree! Just remind them here of Jimmy's role model Neville Chamberlain - that'll make 'em shut up!Right-o! What have I been thinking? The only TRUE AMERICAN way to handle this is to let the two sides keep slaughtering each other. That'll solve the whole problem, and it'll never ever spill over and cause chaos and destruction in places like New York.

Perhaps he could offer the Palestinians a canal or something.

As much as I would like to take credit for it, I didn't write that. I just thought it was a good article.
