President Bush began his day with a phone call to Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen. He also had his daily intelligence and FBI briefings before he met with Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of Interior and the Chairman of his Council on Environmental Quality to announce a new initiative to reduce the threat of wildfire in the western states. Oh, and Bush taped an interview with Barbara Walters that will air on 20/20 Friday night. During that interview, the President said he would support a voluntary vaccination against small pox. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I was lucky enough to hang out with him some when I was a kid and he was playing for the Jets. The house he was renting during the season was not far from where I lived.
Some friends and I would just ring his doorbell and he would come out and talk football with us. He was a genuinely nice guy. Imagine, a couple of kids ring your bell and say, " Hey Joe, what do you think about the Bills on Sunday?" He would stand there and talk for an hour!
It was something for us. Needless to say we were bummed when he went to the Rams!

We did it. This is the longest Dose I've ever been on. I remember one was over 500, but that's because some people posted the morning after.

Well, when my kids were teenagers they loved to ask me questions that began with "Back in olden days when you were a little girl .....". I think my daugther imagined my childhood as being like "Little House on the Prairie."
They were utterly dumbfounded when we told them that we didn't have tv until we were well into grade school ..... and then it was ..... *gasp* ... black and white! Oh, the hardships! Chasing fireflies at night ..... being able to keep your doors and windows open ..... kids of all ages playing hide and seek at night in the summer. Such a rough life!

My roommate had a computer for the room (with windows 3.1) which I crashed 2 hours before I had to turn in a Media Law paper for my final. I was so crushed! Fortunately, my Law professor was my advisor and gave me an extention.
(I kept the room clean, since she wasn't ever really there, and she let me use her computer.)

The first Presidential election in which I could vote I cast my ballot for Richard M. Nixon. And my 36th anniversary is in January. And I played with dinosaurs and lived in a cave when I was a kid. You and I must be about the same age. The first presidential election in which I could vote, I cast my ballot against Nixon. They really should not allow 18 year olds to vote. LOL!
I actually played with dinosaurs when I was a kid. My favorite toy was this four by five foot rectangular piece of plastic that was really a layout of Bedrock, the Flintstone's town. It had little plastic houses that you could set up and the little Flintstone cars that you could run all over the little "town". There were little people and pet dinosaurs. What fun memories!

We had a thread go over 1000 once. But I think that was over a 2 day period - our W must have been away, and we were suffering withdrawal. LOL

That's crazy. I wonder if someone stayed on it from start to finish.

Yeah, a great childhood memory.
Doesn't seem like today's athletes would be up for much of that.

OMG, me too. The shame. The next one was worse though. I should be wearing sackcloth and ashes to this day for that one. (spit)

I still fawn over mine. He's an Engineer at a local firm. Too bad he's waiting for Mrs. right to show up. (or get old enough)
He's a sweetie, and always will be. I'll be happy the day he settles down.

Well, when my kids were teenagers they loved to ask me questions that began with "Back in olden days when you were a little girl .....".Yeah, I love telling my math students how when I was in high school, we didn't have calculators. We used slide rules. "What are slide rules," they ask! lol! We also didn't have electric typewriters when I was in high school.
My family didn't even own a television set until I was in eighth grade. We could have (I am not THAT old), but we just didn't. I remember coming home from school and watching McHale's Navy, My Favorite Martian, and Gilligan's Island. Boy does that date me!

No I'm not sick .. just been on the Lott threads and my brain cells are shot .. LOL
And no .. I can't make it down to Philly and the girls have been out of school for too long
they were off Thruday and Friday due to the snow and again today due to the ice .. I can't keep them home again .. mainly because they are driving me nuts .. LOL
My middle child gets BORED so easily and feels the need to keep telling me so .. LOL

How lucky we were to be able to go all over our neighborhoods...even at night...and never be afraid for our safety!
Yes, my kids asked questions like that. My husband was 10 years older than I and loved to tell them stories of outhouses and trips there in the winter. I led a sheltered life, by comparison.

My brother is 20--8 years younger than me, and I remember telling him that in my childhood we didn't have VCRs. i will never forget the look on his face-- :-O
Hmm and in those days you could go trick or treating with just you and your friends, and could stay out until 9PM and your parents didn't have to worry.
Maigrey---my husband had a new computer in 1994 that had 4MB ram with Windows 3.1 in his room. There were two others on his floor that had computers---he was the bomb. It cost him $2500 and today my palm pilot has 4 times that much power. :-/
