Israeli officer threatens to nuke Mecca, Medina

Al-Khalil, Dec 9, IRNA -- A high-ranking Israeli officer has threatened to attack Islamic holy places in the Middle East with nuclear bombs, an Israeli newspaper said Sunday.

The Ha'aretz Hebrew newspaper quoted an unidentified high-ranking officer as saying that in case Israel was attacked by states or terrorist groups, the Jewish state would respond by dropping nuclear bombs on holy Islamic cities such Mecca, Medina in Saudi Arabia and Qom in Iran.

The paper quoted the officer, who works as Guide in Israeli army colleges, as saying that Israel possesses hundreds of nuclear weapons along with their delivery systems, including long-range ballistic missiles, long-range bombers and nuclear submarines.

Israel is the only entity in the Middle East to possess a huge arsenal of weapons of mass destruction, including a sizable nuclear arsenal. However, the United States, Israel's guardian-ally, has always avoided any serious discussion of Israel's weapons of mass destruction. /NK/BH/AR End

Like Delilah tormenting Samson, the Muslims have blinded and attempted to contain the Israelis. But the Israelis, far stronger and more determined than the most fanatical of Muslims, have the means to annihilate them, though it may mean their own destruction as well.

Right. And the Israelis would then solve the Palestinian problem in the traditional middle eastern way: exterminate them.

Presuming that Israel survived a nuclear strike, how exactly would exterminating the Palestinians bring back the dead Israelis. How would Israel continue to exist if Europe, and indeed the whole world, including the United States, embargoed or even blockaded Israel? How would the Israeli government survive the wrath of the surviving population? Israeli nuclear action without clear and immediate danger to the existence of Israel would constitute folly of the highest order.

Israel shows it will attack when they are attacked. It's obvious the entire Arab world is aiming at them or condones what happens towards them. So, what if they are attacked with weapons of mass destruction. Israel would do the whole world a lot of good at aiming at the problem. The Arab world continually threatens to wipe Israel off the map and they are supposed to just take it? They need to get the Arabs to understand their ruthlessness with come with a price and they are not pushovers who will be destroyed and not answer for the hell they are constantly put through.

Ha'aretz is hardly a no-name newspaper in Israel. Funny thing is, I can't find the story mentioned on the Ha'aretz English website (I don't read Hebrew, so if someone can provide a comparison between the aforementioned English site and the main Hebrew site, it would be appreciated).
