Kuwait Calls Saddams Apology A Clear Call For War

KUN0057 4 GEN 0240 KUWAIT /KUNA-IME2 POL-KUWAIT-IRAQ-ADDRESS Al-Sager: Iraqi President's letter apparent threat for countries in the region

KUWAIT, Dec 8 (KUNA) -- Head of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee MP Mohammed AL-Sager said the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's letter is an apparent threat not only for Kuwait but also for all countries in the region without exception, proving that the Iraqi regime still represents an element of instability in the region. In a press statement, Al-Sager said the timing of the letter directed to the Kuwaiti people coincided with submitting a report on the weapons of mass destruction, to divert the Arab and Iraqi people's attention by this step taken under international pressure. Al-Sager also described the letter as a mistake in a series of deadly mistakes and miscalculations, and a clear call for war threatening all the Gulf countries. This apology would bring the region back to square number 1, he said. The first part of the letter highlights new justifications for the invasion crime and contradicts with reality, history and even with Saddam Hussein's previous false justifications for the past aggression, he added. "In 1989, there were no U.S. forces in Kuwait conducting manoeuvres led by Schwartzkopf, the Head of the regime himself offered the highest Iraqi Order to H.H. the Amir indicating the depth of the relations between the two countries..," he elaborated. And the original Iran/Kuwait dispute was over oil.

I don't recall many details of the Iran/Kuwait dispute. Did it have anything to do with Iraq being in between them? Again, please refresh my memory.

Lessee; what would the Kuwaitis rather have on their northern border; a Shi'a population that, while diametrically-opposed to the existence of the Sunni Kuwaitis, has more emnity for the Ba'aths that run Iraq today and thus serves as a semi-effective barrier between the proven Ba'aths and Kuwaitis, or a Shi'a population free to make Kuwait a stepping stone to Mecca?

If you said (b), then why did Kuwait egg Iraq on in the Iran-Iraq war?

What the Kuwaitis would rather have north of them is irrelevant. We would rather have an amazonian colony of super women to our north.

Amazonian strength, not Amazonian attitude.

You brought up the "lying" Kuwaitis; I called you on it, now you change the topic.

I called you on it

You haven't called me on anything. You simply posed a question that really doesn't go to the heart of the matter. The Kuwaiti's have over the years presented falsehoods and lies in order to foment war. And they do this in an attempt to get the US to fight their wars for them and to settle their disputes. It is a crappy little country that deserves no sympathy.

You're blind as to the question precisely because you know the implications of the answer, which blows your rabid anti-Kuwait-based "argument" out of the water. To suggest that Kuwait would rather have an unfettered and vengeful Shi'ite population eyeing things up greedily than have them and the Ba'ath-dominated Iraqi leadership more at their throats versus at Kuwait's is pure lunacy. Considering that there won't be the "hook" of WMD when the Shi'ites decide to move south that there was when Saddam moved south, it's far less likely that the US is going to come to "poor, little" Kuwait's aid.

I don't care what Kuwait would prefer. It doesn't change the facts.

Which are that Iraq has become 4 unfettered years closer to an Arab nuke, hid more biological and chemical weapons, and hasn't moderated his thirst for revenge in the least.

Care to explain exactly how Kuwait lied?

The UN, it is the largest International Social Club that can be found. By the way, someone should tell KING Kofi Annan that they are killing each other in Africa, again.
