Quote:
The poll was released as Deputy Prime Minister John Manley and Tom Ridge, head of the homeland security department in the U.S., met yesterday in Washington to discuss Canadian concerns about immigration controls south of the border, which Ottawa believes unfairly target some Canadian citizens. Almost two-thirds of respondents, 65 per cent, also told EKOS they believed the U.S. had "no business" telling Canadians to increase defence spending or pushing Ottawa to back Washington's hawkish foreign policy, both of which are matters for Canadians to decide themselves. Thirty-one per cent said they felt it "reasonable" for Washington to request Canada's military support, backed by a more robust military.
Let's see if I have this straight, it's Canadians' business how we screen people entering the U.S. but it's none of Americans' business how or if Canada contributes to our mutual defense.
"A good portion of Canadians wouldn't agree with the characterization that he is a moron, but they do think he is dangerous."
SAY WHAT?

The Canadians are now closer to Europe than the U.S. Soft with Socialism they want us to protect them but they want to be sure to tell us how. Many in the U.S. think Canada is much like the U.S. Not so. Ask someone who has visited.
We need to let our foreign friends fend for themselves for a while. Their military is not much stronger than the New York City police.

Who the H#ll are they polling??? It's gotta be Toronto and Ottawa. Certainly not out West. A bunch of bull if you ask me. The reason it has deteriorated is because Chretien is such an ass!

Ottawa A majority of Canadians believe relations between Ottawa and Washington have deteriorated over the past year. These numbers are skewed. I know from experience that a majority of Canadians are in Palm Springs for the winter.

I put the Canadians in the same category as the Eurotrash--they don't like us until they need us. I despise the fact that my Mercury was made in Canada.

Just continue to drain them of all doctors and other [mostly white] professionals. Keep their currency headed south, no pun intended. Leave them just a bunch of French and Indians, no pun intended. Seal the border.
If any complaints are heard, just say they are 40 years behind us, 20 degrees below zero, and ten miles beneath contempt.

Canadian views of U.S. President George W. Bush were distilled in a single question posed by EKOS, which asked whether Bush or Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein posed a bigger threat to world peace. While 56 per cent of respondents said it was the Iraqi leader, 38 per cent said it was Bush.
Idiots like this make me embarrased to be a Canadian...

The Toronto Star is an explicitly socialist organ, FWIW.

Why don't we sent St. Paul BSA Troop 45 across the border
and take over the joint. It shouldn't take those boys
but a few days.

Annex Canada, deport all socialist inhabitants to Europe and launch a settlement campaign to exploit the resources.

That headline is a misleading piece of
cr@p. The respondents aren't "sour on the US", they're (correctly) pointing out that relations have deteriorated. Had the pollsters asked them to elaborate they would have put the blame squarely on the shoulders of the Libs.
