Of course this means the next Miss World will be held in a Muslim country.
I have to wonder if they are purposefully picking Muslim countries to generate controversy and thus interest in the contest. As I say, I'd never even given this contest a thought before - I wonder how many people paid attention just due to the troubles in Nigeria.

Oh boy, this means next year's competition will be in Turkey. Maybe we'll get to go through this all over again!

Visiting the Miss World site for research purposes I presume? ~arching an eyebrow~ *LOL* Of course, darling. You know that you are my Miss World, Galaxy, Universe and Infinity. ;)

I think it said Miss Colombia came second. Imagine what fun it would have been to have the contest evading FARC guerillas and drug smugglers. ;)

Is it any surprise that a Muslim Miss is Miss World? I knew it would be a Muslim. We have to prove that we're understanding and tolerant about their reaction to beauty contests and still give the prize to one of their own. The "winner" looks very happy --I don't think she cares why she won.

...raised in the Netherlands by my parents who are both of Turkish Decent..."
Well, they are probably decent since they opted to get out of Turkeyland..as to your descent - well, that's more problematical.

I'm just thankful that cheap, tacky Miss North Carolina/Miss United States (or whatever they call her now) didn't even place. She made a complete fool out of herself over her "title" here....I'm glad she didn't even place!

>>>How did Miss USA do?<<<
That's a loaded question, isn't it? I wanna know how Rebekkah Revels, who wasn't even Ms. North Carolina (due to the nude photos) ended up being Ms. USA for the Ms. World event?
To: ewing
Perhaps that will be the LAST we hear of Rebekah Revels. Except, of course, for her lawsuits. She's brought enough embarassment to North Carolina.

A very good question. Perhaps her attorney, the shoplifter, worked out a deal for her.

I'm telling myself English is her second language. She sure didn't score points for grammar or punctuation.
