A devout Catholic, Mary Stachowicz met her martyrdom while working at the Sikorski Funeral Home on Chicagos northwest side, where she got to know Gutierrez, 19, who lived in a second-floor apartment above the funeral home. On the afternoon of November 13, Stachowicz attended Mass at St. Hyacinth parish across the street, then returned to the funeral home and went to visit Gutierrez in his apartment. According to Chicago police, an argument broke out when Mrs. Stachowicz lectured Gutierrez about his lifestyle and his lack of direction in life. Gutierrez later told police that he had issues with his mother and that the way Stachowicz was talking to him gave him flashbacks of his mother that angered him.
When Stachowicz asked him, "Why do you [have sex with] boys instead of girls?" Gutierrez snapped. In a fit of rage, he punched, kicked, stabbed and strangled the 51-year-old wife and mother of four. Gutierrez then stuffed her body into a crawl space under the floor of his apartment, where it remained for two days until he confessed to police.
Amazingly, some of the most brazenly diabolical comments referred to in this article were mirrored in comments on threads about Mrs. Stachowiczs Murder on this very Forum.

But O'Reilly doesn't think it was a hate crime - just a guy who 'went off'.....uh huh.....
Soon it will be said of those who say "I'll pray for you" - 'he/she had it coming'......

And to think, these are the people trying to worm themselves into the Boy Scouts. Get ready Christians, if they get their way, you will be locked up for believing that homosexuality is wrong.
To: Polycarp
Maybe this will give pause to other people who similarly try to help homosexuals." Hmmmm... What's the message here, folks-- question them and they'll hurt ya?
Another Religion of Peace.

Its only a hate crime if a 'gay' is the victim. Same double standard I have come to expect from that quarter.
Unfortunately for Mary Stachowicz's family she forgot Jesus' admonition in Matt 7:6 "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet and then turn and tear you to pieces." May God comfort them in their loss.
Thanks for the post, Polycarp.

Those who throw the words fascist, nazi, and bigot around are usually projecting their own failings.

Predictably, the mainstream media and homosexual advocacy organizations have reacted to Mary Stachowiczs murder the same way they did to 13-year-old Jesse Dirkhisings torture-murder at the hands of two homosexual men in 1999: by avoiding it. As of December 4, no formal condemnations of Mrs. Stachowiczs murder have been issued by leading groups such as the Human Rights Campaign, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, or the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. Homosexuality, the lifestyle of peace(TM)? Silence can be deafening.

Unbelieveable... granted it seems the lady was pretty pushy, but I guess it's OK for gays to respond with violence to being asked to explain their behavior?
And then the post from "Iris" nauseating..... abominable.
To: Polycarp
Iris" wrote to the ACLU Online Forum: "I am in no way condoning this man's behavior. Murder is murder. He should receive life or the death penalty for his actions. But one fact remains ... if she would have been minding her own [expletive] business instead of attempting to ram her religion where it didn't belong, none of this would have ever happened. I really don't feel sorry for her. She paid a very steep price for being an arrogant religious fascist. Too bad for her."
well... none of it would have happened if the guy wasnt gay... or had control issues.. or an unstable mindset (most gays have severe emotional problems... but the general public wont acknoledge it any more.) the woman did one thing that the ones in support of the queer said was wrong. the truth is, the entire situation was a culmination of problems, and she only did what she felt was right.

Attention Sympathetic Homos Posters on ACLU site! My friend and I (Mr. Ninus Millimeter) await your arrival upon our doorstep. Don't forget, our classes start promptly and end suddenly!

"Elsewhere, Benedetto wrote, "[Y]es, the woman (Stachowicz) was clearly a meddlesome b---- who didn't understand that the lives of her co-workers were none of her business. That does not make her any less the victim, or absolve her killer of any of his guilt." "
it seems to me that by the set-up of the actual crime event, that the gay at first wanted to talk to her. it also seems the subject arose in discussion, not her whipping out a Bible and thwaking him in the head. the gay guy is a nutcase with severe emo problems.
from my accouts with knowing gays, most of them have problems with their parents (boys especially with their moms) and at the same time, have a severe lack of personal identity. gays on a psychological level are for the most part just people who dont know what they want out of life, and since being gay is rising in popularity, they are finding an easy to get into crowd. they dont have to worry about ability, or looks, or even origin. as long as they are gay, they feel they can "belong" to an increasingly accepted yet mentally and spiritually damaging group and lifestyle.

Hate crime?
To me it certainly leans that way. Think it the scenario were reversed and it had been the gay who had been killed by a Catholic. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

When Stachowicz asked him, "Why do you [have sex with] boys instead of girls?" She's not here to vouch for the accuracy of this quotation, but I am skeptical. It would be to imply that "having sex with girls" (note the plural, and no mention of marital status) would be an OK thing.
To: Polycarp
Typical. Many homosexuals flaunt it, stick in your face and demand you accept it. But God forbid you bring up your viewpoint contrary to theirs, you deserve to die for it
Just your basic fascist.

Well, here's another example of a person who became homosexual because of severely dysfunctional family relationships. Yet the gays keep trying to deny that this is the cause.

The attitude of people who have been attacking this woman is sickening.
I don't think homosexuality is "normal" nor do I think the forced acceptance of it in schools is a good thing. I do think homosexuals should be able to afford themselves the same rights (not more rights) as straights.
I do not understand the hang-up on sex in the Christian religion. Only Muslims seem to be more wackadooed when it comes to sex. Catholics never seem to get any Bible study so I've been making it a point read the entire Book; (slow going though).
I take much of the OT with a large grain of salt, because some of it was reversed in the NT and some of it just seems very weird. (Jonah getting swallowed by a whale for instance). The only admonishion againts aberrant sexual practices in the NT (that I've found so far) is from St. Paul's letters. Now my New Catholic Bible has footnotes and one footnote said that Paul was sexual ascetic. Is that true? If that is true could it have affected his writings?
Anyway, this lady's murder was wrong and her killer's defenders are wrong. Period.

Take a look at these two comments:"We condemn this murder, like we do all murders," said Laura Montgomery Rutt, spokeswoman for Soulforce. "A hate crime needs to have an intent to intimidate a whole class of people. If in this case, it was directed at this person and intended to intimidate Christians, that would be a hate crime in my mind."
For example, James Wagners boyfriend, Barry, expressed the hope on his blog that "maybe [Stachowiczs murder] will strike fear in the hearts of a few fundamentalists" and then asked, "Where do I send a check for his (Gutierrezs) defense fund?"
Sounds like Barrys reasoning fits Ms. Rutts definition of a hate crime.

When Stachowicz asked him, "Why do you [have sex with] boys instead of girls?" Gutierrez snapped. This is his claim and is probably a lie. Who else heard these alleged words except for the killer and his victim?
