Doesn't surprise me at all. Most Dems live in a fantasy world.

Is he any farthur left than the okd coot that plays Gandalf.

I don't know who this is but from your description I guess that he is an actor. Why do we care what's on his alleged mind. He's not paid to think because he can't. He can have an opinion but it carries no weight.

It doesn't matter; Two Towers is even better than Fellowship (we saw it yesterday), and Aragorn is as tough and warlike as you could wish...but Gollum, now there's a truly fabulous characterization, wow. Everybody there was dazzled, we wanted to see it again, right away.

The overwhelming majority of actors are dumber than a box of hammers. It's just a fact of life.

Well, Tolkien wasn't an anti-American retard, and it's basically his story.

This is why my wife does not seek after interviews with artists whose work she enjoys. For instance, she doesn't know yet (as far as I know) about the human mess who plays Gandalf so wonderfully... and I for one won't tell her. She's happier not knowing, and I don't blame her one bit.

Have you ever met an actor?
They can be very strange. They certainly aren't anything like the characters they portray, and it is silly to expect them be. They work very hard when they're working and don't have much time or energy to keep up with current events. When they aren't working they're networking with folks who can help them get work and that requires them to have the same opinions as the folks who have the power to make decisions about their careers.
Viggo is a wonderful actor but like most actors the most interesting thing about him is what you see on the screen. Because actors portray interesting and intelligent people it is easy to assume that they are interesting and intelligent in real life. Rarely is it so.

More liberal emetic:
"[Middle Earth is]..a green alternative to each day's madness here in a poisoned world. We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers--thieves planting flags, murders carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."
---Peter S. Beagle, introduction to the 1973 Del Rey edition of LOTR.

blah, i had the misfortune of catching part of that show last night while surfing around. I thought he looked familiar and then once they started talking about The Two Towers it dawned on me who it was. During the part i watched he kept going on and on about how America has been bombing innocent people over the past year and how wrong and misguided we are. Anyway i couldn't take too much of it so i turned off the TV and went to bed. Oh well, i guess i'll probably still watch The Two Towers but doubt i'll be catching any other of this particular puppet's projects (it's just too bad the words of such a noble character has to be mouthed by such a weak-minded fool).

I could be wrong, but this may be the height of his career.

Ok, I may get flamed- and perhaps rightfully so, but Why is there ALWAYS a thread about the Lord of the Rings movie on FreeRepublic?
I have not seen this movie yet but my preconception is that it is kind of a geeky movie for folks who used to play Dungeons and Dragons.

Have a problem with using actual article titles? - Two threads about this interview have already been posted today.

I saw the show. He is just a pure vomit.

These threads are always a big hoot. Some of the fans are disillusioned, some are not, and some don't give a damn and just like the movie or the character. It is a mistake to mix artistic performance with politics. He made the mistake and you do the same.

He's an actor, and hence an idiot until otherwise proven. Not that the latter is likely.
