"The actors are making it difficult for me to enjoy these movies that I look forward to."You could try my philosophy:
I WILL NOT LET IDIOTS DETERMINE WHAT I THINK, SAY OR DO.

I thought he was Argentinian. Wasn't he in "The Perfect Murder" with Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow?

Vitto was listed in some inane E! channel "Sexiest" poll as a "Renaissance Man." He only acts to support his passion of scratchy, conceptual art paintings.
So, we are dealing with the "politics" of another "Performance Artist."

I love that idea.

I dislike it when actors or actresses use their celebrity to further political causes. Their celebrity does not make their voice or view more important or meaningful than anyone else's.
That said, the article is skewed. It takes off on the "No more blood for oil" T-shirt and then discusses Taliban atrocities. But Mortenson did say that bombing innocent civilians was a terrible thing (as far as I can tell from the wording of the article), just as bombing innocent civilians was bad in WWII and would be bad just about any time in history.
I doubt anyone would dispute that bombing and killing innocent civilians is bad. Sometimes, sadly, it is a necessary part of a greater need to extirpate an evil that must be extirpated.
However, if innocent civilians are killed for reasons that are not noble (the extirpation of evil regimes is noble and necessary) the killing of innocent civilians may not be justified. If innocent civilians were killed solely to insure U.S. economic prosperity, that would probably not be justifiable.
"No more blood for oil" is a very poor way to make that statement, because it is unclear. In the campaign against Saddam Hussein, oil is clearly not our motivation, though some dumb Hollywood actors may see it that way. But spilling blood for oil, be it the blood of innocent civilians or the blood of America's soldier heroes -- would not be good at all.

Huh! Would that include your loved ones? Certainly. Part of the whole rationale for national defense is protecting our quality of life. For the time being, oil is a necessity to preserve that.

I thought he was Argentinian. Wasn't he in "The Perfect Murder" with Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow? He was in The Perfect Murder. He was born in NY, to an american mother, and a father from Denmark, spent much of his childhood abroad in Denmark, Argentina, and Venezuela due to Dad's job.
He is a great actor. Period. Why do we even care what actors think? As I said earlier, I don't give a rip what my plumber thinks about politics. Viggo Mortensen does a great job in Lord of the Rings. He does not have a degree in poli sci, a career in governance, or experience in geo political diplomacy.. Ignore his politics, enjoy his acting.

He was in
A Perfect Murder. He is not Argentine. His dad is Danish, but he was born in NYC.
His parents moved to Argentina when he was 2 and he grew up their and came back here when he was a teenager.
He used to be married to that whacked-out punker Exene Cervenka.

Well everybody knows this whole "evil ring of power" business was just a scheme cooked up by those fat cats in Gondor and the Shire to gain control of Mordor's valuable geothermal energy sources and exploit the oppressed Orc races. That is hilarious!
