PRESIDENT BUSH SURPRISES PRO-LIFE LEADERS BY SELECTING KISSINGER FOR 9-11 POST

Kissinger Strongly Implicated in Population Control and Abortion

WASHINGTON, November 29, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) - U.S. President George W. Bush announced Wednesday that he had selected former secretary of state Henry Kissinger as chairman of a new independent commission to investigate the September 11 attacks. Pro-life leaders were surprised by the selection given the President's aversion to coercive abortion and Kissinger's close association with it.

President Bush was praised by the pro-life community internationally for his defunding of the United Nations Population Fund due to their association with the forced abortion and coercive sterilization practices in China. However, Kissinger was intimately associated with coercive population control as he is the author of the now-declassified national security study memorandum calling for population control - coercive if necessary, in the third world.

Gilles Grondin, a veteran United Nations diplomat and past President of Le Mouvement en faveur de la Vie/Campaign Quebec Vie, (the pro-life movement in Quebec), told LifeSite that he was surprised by President Bush's selection of Kissinger. Grondin, who with his vast UN experience has been one of the most successful pro-life lobbyists at the UN, points out that Kissinger's memo NSSM 200 formed the basis of U.S. foreign policy in the area of population.

Grondin explained that the Memorandum suggested that competition from new world powers would rise when developing nations had sufficient populations to utilize their national resources to their full potential. Thus, NSSM 200 was about ensuring U.S. strategic, economic, and military interest, at the expense of developing countries, by proposing population control including by coercive means if mere propaganda could not succeed.

We pro-lifers would be wise to pick our fights more carefully.

Picking a chairman for a committee investigating 9/11 should depend on many factors. Whether the candidate is pro-choice or pro-life should not be one of them.

I wonder how many pro-lifers are in positions of leadership in this administration.

I don't agree with you that a person's views shouldn't be an issue for a seemingly unrelated position, but even giving you that, there is still another side to this.

Bush, throughout the primaries and elections assured the prolifers he agreed with their views. So, where is the ban on partial birth abortion??

The globalists would not be in power without that conservative, prolife vote. And, now it seems that they're being told their views are irrelevent.

Actually my reference was to the fact that Kimmel had sent
Fletcher and a relief force to Wake.

Fletcher, aware of the state of flux in command proceeded slowly until kimmel was relieved by vice Admiral Pye
who was himself just a stand in until
Nimitz could arrive from Washington.

The Japanese beat Fletcher to it and took Wake, something
that perhaps need not have happened.

No, prodeath people should be opposed only when there is a point to opposing them. I don't want abortion-supporting judges, but I don't care if the dog catcher is pro abortion (did you read the thread?)

<> I care when the most basic question of life is now considered negotiable by "conservatives." It really wasn't that long ago that a "proabortionist" could NOT be elected dog catcher. Now, things have become so perverse that we have turned that tautology into a mocking dismissal of fellow Christians. "I don't care in the dog catcher is proabortion." Is it ok for the dog catcher to be a cannibal?

What, exactly, is being "conserved" when we are witnessing such a rapid abandonment of principle?<>

You are limiting your choices when it comes to appointment especially considering that a recent poll was that 78% are pro abortion...

What on earth does being pro abortion have to do with leading this committee?

You are making all conservatives look like a bunch of nuts...

We are not talking about the hierarchy of the Church. We are talking about effective governance in a secular society. If we insist upon ideological purity in the selection of candidates for ALL government offices, we will alienate our uneasy political allies, which will result in the enemies of life achieving total dominance in the sphere of public social policy. It's called cutting off our noses to spite our faces.

There is absolutely no principle being abandonded in selecting men like Kissinger to positions having nothing to do with social policy.

Our society did not become so perverse overnight, and we will not be healed in a day. When we finally have a golden opportunity to effect the character of the Judicial branch for a generation, doesn't it seems silly and shortsighted to get your panties in a bunch over W's appointment of Dr. K to this pointless, pandering placading party?!

Dear God, please stop this thread.

Your logic is as flawed as polyglot. Many pro-abortionist say they value life, but don't recognise the fetus as a person. So in their minds they can value the lives lost on 9-11 even though they believe in abortion. I believe they can do so. Please don't respond to this. I am against abortion and don't need the lecture.

I said earlier. There are many things wrong with Kissinger, but this post and all the subsequent rhetoric is a non-sequitor. The inability of you and the poster to understand why it is so indicates an illogical thought process. Sorry.

<> It used to be a given that leaders had to be men of character. In this instance, we have a man who is infamously absent character. I don't think any long term goal is advanced by abandoning bedrock principles. The RIGHT to life is a bedrock principle. If conservatives are supposed to accept probaortionists as apt for important positions of power and prestige, in what way have we advanced towards the goal of reorienting this society?

The important point, imo, is being ignored. It isn't the position and its duties, it is the man. Wasn't that the basis of the Rats when it came to defending Clinton during Monicagate? JUst because he had sex with Monica doesn't mean he couldn't do the job. It seems we conservatives are now supposed to follow the Libs on this also.<>

Keep flapping your lips, Poly - you'll take bunches of people who were pretty decently pro-life, and turn them into people who believe the government has nothing to say about the issue (like me). Throw in your views on contraception, too. That'll really turn them off you.
