MEXICO CITY -- An exodus of factories in the past two years, many of them to China, has led to a wave of soul-searching among Mexico's business leaders and government officials over the country's ability to compete with other low-cost exporters for the U.S. market.

Companies also complain that Mexico's taxes are too high and its labor laws too rigid.

Huh??????????

Slaves (PRC) make good assembly line workers for cheap basic products. All they cost is food, housing, basic medicine, and the occasional bullet.

They suck at making anything sophisticated.

Interesting article; thanks for the post.

Every time I hear of liberals whining about sweatshops, I feel like asking them: and how much are you offering to pay these workers?

Not how much are you proposing to force OTHERS to pay them, but how many are YOU going to hire and at what wage?

What is your point of posting endless articles about any/every business operation, regardless of size, making business decisions to relieve the cost of extraneous employees who are no longer integral in a financial or economic sense for the survival of the business.

Your entire time on the net as it is directed to FR is the looser mentality of "people loosing jobs".

You forget one variable that works very well in the real world.

That of the people who are actually finding jobs.

Why are none of the figures of new jobs created and or "new hires" not included in your fervent whinings of doom and gloom for the economic tabulations? Would you care to explain your reason for posting only the "dark side" that only you are capable of seeing and/or recognizing?

According to your view of the "jobs of the world" scenario, the "worker" is going to hell in a hand basket, thanks to "Big Business".

Your continuous posts place you in the "Break the Chains" category, but maybe my thoughts are merely mistaken.

Please put me and others here in our place, if I am wrong...

I've accused him of the same thing...he says he posts all of the new jobs too, but there aren't any.

Please put me and others here in our place, if I am wrong...

Economic news is inextricably linked to a wide variety of government policies and regulations.
News about businesses closing and laying off people (or expanding/hiring, I do post both types) are specific stories that people can relate to.
Everybody has to earn a living somehow.
And people vote their pocketbooks.

I post a wide variety of such articles from many, many different sources to provide a broad perspective of our nation and world. Yes, I also have a very strong opinion on these issues as I believe they affect the security and prosperity of our nation. But I would also hope these articles would serve to inform readers of the experiences, jobs and industries of fellow Americans that they may not otherwise encounter in their own daily lives.

With your big, bad, nasty bold type questioning why I do this, I'll put you in the category of those juvenile flying-monkeys who wish to stifle posting and discussion of such information. Many others have thanked me for my efforts, so I'm not overly concerned about the small band of habitual detractors. Their moronic rants at least serve to bump the thread.

I've posted links for you documenting such posts.
So if you want to destroy your own credibility spouting such lies, it's fine with me.
It simply makes you another of the flying monkeys who wish to stifle discussion of such issues.

In general, companies will downsize fairly rapidly. They have an incentive to get all the bad news behind them. The large layoffs is what makes the headlines in the newspapers. The company that I work for is doing quite well, and the division that I work for is growing rapidly and hiring more people. Does that make the news? No. The fact is, there ARE more articles about companies downsizing than articles about companies growing. Therefore it isn't surprising if Willie can find more articles about layoffs and plant closings.

Given that, however, Willie's posts (and using the keywords "the Bush Economy") remind me of Clinton campaigning in 1992 on the basis that we were in the worst economy since the 1930's. Also kinda reminds me of the media bias that caused homelessness to disappear as soon as Clinton took office, but made it magically reappear when President Bush replaced him as president.

Personally, I view Willie as a left-wing, light-rail loonie (as they are known here in MN). I suspect that he has some motive in linking President Bush to bad news.

The list of cliche's that you have used in the last 6 hours are ...

1. "Everybody has to earn a living somehow.
2. And people vote their pocketbooks.

Also you put forth this statement,

I post a wide variety of such articles from many, many different sources to provide a broad perspective of our nation and world.

Your use of "le cliche" is wanton, as is that of many socialists worldwide.

Would you please provide a primary list of the sources and dates from which you pull your "facts and conclusions"?

You have filled many with this humorous drivel,

With your big, bad, nasty bold type questioning why I do this, I'll put you in the category of those juvenile flying-monkeys who wish to stifle posting and discussion of such information

Hello Jay Leno and the Jaywalking segments!

Are you auditioning for such with this amazing chain of adjective ignorance?

...big, bad, nasty bold etc, etc.,...

This latter bloat speaks volumes, and obviously your educational background is not representative of anything nearing that, but here it is for all to see again here at Free Republic:

I'll put you in the category of those juvenile flying-monkeys who wish to stifle posting and discussion of such information. Words that you enjoy repeating are "juvenile", "flying monkeys", "stifle"...

It is great fun "outing" another idiot, (since you are in no way a savant) either a DU poster, or another mentally challenged seminar poster, or just a fool who cannot figure out that AlGore actually lost the election, and you haven't a clue otherwise (and you enjoy the support you get from the "otherside.alt", who are made up mostly of locked up New York mental patients, a.k.a. losers in the real world)

The poster "ItisaReligionofPeace" and I more than likely are not the only ones who question your motives.
B Please give us some facts, not cliche driven drivel that we may hear from any liberal nether land fax source...

I agree with you on the economy.

I'm afraid Willie is a Buchananite and not a leftist.
