I have a bad feeling this is going to cause mayhem on the freeways. Just wait until the Mexicans start undercutting US truckers across the highway. I've talked to some truckers already who say there will be hell to pay!

What a terrible dilema for the chained, alp-dog, ultra-left wing, extremist media in this country. They will have lots of opportunities to clobber Bush's stupidity on this issue but at the cost of pointing out Mexican excesses.
Poor Mexican trucks will haul dope, illegals and terrorist material into the heartland some may be caught. Some won't.
The problems will involve profiling and bribes. Mexicans don't believe in obeying the law. They know that if they get caught violating a law, they can ALWAYS buy their way out. Mexican trucks will be poorly maintained and overloaded, will never have the right insurance or log books and the drivers will not have licenses and will exceed federal duty limitations. All of them? No, but enough so that every Mexican truck will be a logical stop. They'll get tickets and fines and one jurisdiction will call the next. The drivers will try to bribe the troopers and get arrested.
Within six months after Mexican trucks move freely around the EU, Presidente Fox will be bitching about the profiling of Mexican trucks and the arrests of Mexican drivers.

Methinks this will create the appropriate fire-storm of protest from patriotic truckers. They know how to take care of such problems.

Everyone ready for the truck bombs? One would almost think they're planning it so it can happen...

Maybe you "conservatives" can call Ralph Nader. You have something in common.

I am so disappointed in the Administration.
Here in the Houston, these trucks from Mexico are a real problem. There are several fatalities a year due to the mechanical failures.
Much of our taxes go to special enforcement to inspect these vehicles.
When is this insanity going to stop?

I see a lot of Canadian trucks up close and they are ok.
I suspect the Mexicans will be also. If they are not they will be impounded and the trucker will be out of business. The state DOT's control the hiways and they have keen eyes and sharp pencils. The fines will flow if the trucks don't comply.
Just wait and see.

As a resident of San Antonio, I hope this will 'allow' only trucks that meet the same EPA standards that are required by US truckers. If this happens, it is a good thing! The trucks coming in now are not regulated and they can be very nasty.

Everything's on track for the formal merger of the United States and Mexico by 2014.
"Amexico" flag and currency design competition set for 2012. National anthem contest, "Nacional Idol", on CBS-Univision throughout 2013, with winning song presented in Capital CIty Los Angeles on Union Day, 5 May 2014 (nation-wide street-gang truce scheduled for same day).

I am no longer a Republican...
I was never a rat, never considered the Libs. Always stood on the sidelines near the Republican bench. Of late, my interest has been fibrillated, and this last tid bit of info, just made me 'head for the door'.
Do you have any idea what this just did? These cut rate bozo's are going to be doing backhauls for next to nothing. Bush just took out a main column supporting the dyke.
JMHO...

...The decision comes nearly a year after Bush had said he wanted to allow Mexican trucks on U.S. roads, in compliance with a provision of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Mexican trucks and buses won't be on U.S. highways until the Department of Transportation can review applications from carriers. It must then grant qualifying carriers provisional operating authority...Knowing the INS, you could name your fleet of trucks the "Al Qaeda Express" and get the rubber chicken stamp of approval.
