"Dr. Kissinger will bring broad experience, clear thinking and careful judgment to this important task," Bush said at a signing ceremony in the Roosevelt Room of the White House. "Mr. Secretary, thank you for returning to the service of your nation." Yeah..."either real or promulgated"

Well, I'm willing to be proven wrong. But Kissinger was too much of the real politik school for my taste. I know that a country's foreign policy has to be realistic and hard nosed, but I think it also needs to reflect the nation's values, and I never was convinced that he was willing to draw a line in the sand, if it had to be done.

There seems to be alot of Wednesday morning quarterbacking
going on here. I would place this issue somewhere between
the catagories of "so what?" and "who cares".

In the last ten years we've had hearings on:
Whitewater
The RTC (Jean Lewis) issue (I believe this was separate)
Vince Foster's death
Chinese Cash Funneled to Clinton
Waco
We've had investigations into:
Whitewater
Foster's Death (3)
Lewinsky, Tripp, Richardson, Vernan Jordan
Waco
Can anyone tell me the overall outcome of these investigations. I can in one sentence.
"Although there are indications that some mistakes did take place, there is no evidence of widespread wrongdoing."
Translation: Nothing happened...
Did anyone think this investigation into 09/11 failures in security was going to develop any serious allegations? It's another sham to pacify the sheeple.
Nothing happening here folks... move along, move along...

The Warren Rudman/Gary Hart Anti-Terror Commission that has put out two reports over the past two years would also have been very good. Hope those two are on the commission.
To be fair to Kissinger, he's a resident of Manhattan or works there so he was as close to the Attacks and the subsequent tragedies as you can get.
To: Brandon
The commission will be able to subpoena any witness to testify When Clinton is called to testify as to why he did nothing to stop the terrorist attacks before 9/11, I hope he doesn't try that "IS" is crap again. I don't think America will fall for that one this time.
Better check Bin Ladins cloak for Clinton DNA, just in case.
To: Brandon
It's a good choice, and someone with actual stature, not another Warren Rudman or John Danforth.Kissinger has a very sharp mind and will ask the right questions.

Hey you mentioned all those hearings I remember watching live on C-Span the Senate Whitewater hearings run by Al Damato (R-NY). Richard Ben-Veniste was lead counsel for the Dems. Good old Senator Al started to ask a witness about Mena and drugs and Ben-Veniste pipes in with a line like this "The Senator should remember that I was the lawyer for Barry Seal. I don't think that you want to start questioning who did what in this case as it includes Republicans and Bush " Al shut right up and changed the subject. I saw it happen. Can't give it an exact quote but I 'll never forget the event. Of course anyone who thinks anything happened there is a conspiracy nut. Leason: company men will always protect the company.

" I agree, I think that Kissenger is the perfect choice. I saw him on Greta Von Sustern's show, last week and he was really good. She couldn't get him to say one thing bad about Bush or the way he has handled the terrorist/Iraq situation. He was always one step ahead of her. "
Shrew...glad he wont be critical...just what we need someone to toe the line yet again. I hope you sleep well Eva knowing another yes man who has carte' blanche is in charge.

More bad news for the Democrats. (You could almost feel sorry for the poor slobs.)
To: Kakaze
There is a big difference between critical appraisal of a situation and partisan fault finding. I think that Kissenger can be relied on for the first, apparently you are more interested in the second.

I must admit the name Veniste and the topic Arkansas flu have crossed my mind a few times. Nuff said.

Good. If it helps the dimocRATs self-destruct I'm all for it.
After many years of the RATs "feeling my pain" it's time for them to feel some of their own.
