Death of American Twins, Liberty and Freedom
Self

Posted on 11/25/2002 3:27:05 PM PST by Old philosopher

Today, November 25, 2002, with the signature of George W. Bush creating the Department of Homeland Security, a milestone in the History of our great country was marked by the death of the Twin Pillars of our society, Freedom and Liberty.

The fight to keep alive these two foundations of our Nation has been a long and arduous one. The mercilous attacks on them have come from politicians on both sides of the aisle in their ever continuing grab for more and more power. Regardless of popular support for the twins, the political class has long sought to bring about their demise. In a "Bi-Partisan" effort both houses of Congress have voted to destroy the most important rights of the People, only a very few of the Congress opposed the death of these important twins.

Those of us who have known these twins for a long time will be very much saddened by their death, and those who have only known them briefly will soon learn how important they were to the Welfare and Security of our Great Country. With the death of Liberty and Freedom it will only be a short time until the Populace of this country will be living under a Dictatorship, controlled by an "Elite" class of politicians who will dictate every facet of our lives.

Requiem In Pacet!

Have you read the bill?

No. I guess I've been missled. My impression was that information about me and my credit card would have been made available to a washington bureaucrat who would then have used it to link it to some kind of terriorist activity.

When I've read the bill, I'll be glad to get back to you, but in the interim, could you (or someone else) tell me whether an item of clothing from Sri Lanka charged to my account will make me one of "them" or one of "us"? I seem to be running low on security.

Yes you have been misled since that is not in the HSA legislation. Do yourself a favor, read the bill and then you can argue from knowledge NOT emotion. It is not like you to take anyone's word for anything, don't start now.

Why is it so hard for people like you to understand that possibly as early as the next election for President this new agency might be in control of the Dems. Guess who becomes the new targets then?

By the way Tex, have you ever met a Gevernment program you didn't like?

Red herring. If a future president is so inclined he/she will not need the HSA to do it. There is not a law ever passed that does not have the potential for abuse. If you elect a tyrant then a tyrant you get.

Have you ever met a government program, that you did like ?

Isn't the answer, then, to insure that no Dem gets elected to the presidency in the foreseeable future, then ?

So you readily acknowledge the huge potential for abuse. As usual you just don't care. With people like you our future children's freedoms are as good as gone. But thanks to the brainwashing they'll receive, they won't care either. GREAT FUTURE.

Then run for the Senate, the House, or for president.

OK, I will. What will you do to break the lock that the two major parties have on the process? Will you protest if I'm not allowed in the debates? Fact is, you don't want me in the next election. I'd kick liberal and Rino ass up and down the street. I'd point out the contradictions between what we live today with what the founders had in mind and the sh*t would hit the fan.

Homeland Security-what a laugh. Border Security would sell a lot more tickets. Let me know when your government has made you 'feel' secure.

Well thanks to the millions of voters imported every year and the liberal agenda in the schools and media it will continue to get harder(maybe even impossible). Most of us realize this.

No I stated that there was the potential for abusing any law. However; that is like blaming the gun for killing people. You can only mouth bumper sticker rants and that is why you are becoming so frustrated. Just like a gun, a law can be used for good or ill depending on who is wielding either. It is OUR job to keep the law out of the hands of tyrants.

See post 171. I believe it is our job to put mechanisms in place to make it harder(not easier) for the next Clinton to try to destroy our Country's freedom.

When you grow up, maybe , just maybe, you'll be able to react with intellect, instead of emotion. The facst are, NO , dear, the GOPers are growing in strength and whilst the Dems have been and shall continue to do everything and anything to win, they haven't been doing much of that lately. Add to that, that Gen-Xers and below favor Republicans, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over Dems and you're proven to still be an overpropagandized, ill educated college student.

Most of us realize that we can't ever let down our gaurd; not, that the Dims ( yes that's correct and not a typo / misspelling error ) are losing ground, with almost every group. :-)

Tex, he's a college student; ergo, he hasn't any real life experiences, for anything he is claiming.

Everything, every single thing, has a " potential " for evil usage. Does that mean that you think we should get rid of everything ? With kids like you, one has to wonder at the state of education, in this country. Even though you now think that you're a Conservative, after being a Liberal, you still think ( er ... feel ) as a Liberal and ignore facts.

The least corrupt. And by forfeit, neither of the two majors.

Fact is, dear, that you are totally clueless about what the FFs wanted/set up ... A TWO PARTY SYSTEM and with good reasson. You only imagine that you would " kick butt ". Delusions of granduer ( not to mention intellect ), mixed with abject stupidity, is a certitue for failure. What would " hit the fan ", dear, is your horridly inflated ego ! You post absurd , noxious, banal screeds, that contain hot air and / or garbage. You ain't " all that "; no matter what you think of yourself and your abilities.

Let me know when you actually stop being a tinfoil enshrouded political naif.

If you are too ashamed to name the political party under which you would run for office, that is okay with me.

They may have lost a little ground for now but they'll be back bigger and uglier. They just didn't have the right boogeyman to get their loyal base of dependents out to vote.

Call me ill educated if it makes you feel better, but I feel the same of you. I just don't have much trust in the essential decency of our Government.
