It's no secret. They don't like you and they will ban you whenever they catch you posting to their forums. Who cares? We ban them anytime they register here. It's a fact. Very few people here are interested in reading the DU style spin and regurgitated propaganda.
Those of you who want to rattle their cages are welcome to it, but please do not drag any of their garbage back to FR and please do not bother posting vanities about your experiences with them. It's not wanted here and will be deleted.
Thanks,
Jim

Yes, but you must admit that the "all your senate are belong to us hack" is an Election Night classic. The HANDS-DOWN BEST I've ever seen...The word "Classic" almost does it justice. (And this coming from a LONG TIME trouble maker on message boards).
It was short, sweet, insider, and to the point. On top of that, it was a most harmless prank. Which makes it all the better. It wasn't just cheap vandalism.

I have to admit, it has been fun to lurk over there since the election. Those folks are truly nuts. Decided against posting (didn't want to break my... "don't argue with an idiot" rule) but its been fun to watch them writhe.
Besides being the looney left, I have been amazed at the hate and vulgarity. I'm no language prude, but I would be embarrased to type some of the stuff I've seen over there.

As a recovering Democrat ... or Reagan Republican as I have recently been told I may be ... I liken being on Free Republic to being a guest invited into Jim's living room. I have to this point and plan to continue to use the manners I would use as I were in that room.

We ban them anytime they register here. I hope you don't ban them just for being DU'ers. Definitely ban them if they are disruptors, who post character attacks or incendiary lies or obscenities or engage in other tactics designed to preclude reasoned debate and commentary. Usual those instances are pretty obvious, and I've certainly notified the Moderators myself when a blatant situation such as that arises.
But someone with a liberal viewpoint who provides fair commentary along with facts and links to articles and other information can be very valuable. It is unfortunate that there aren't more "honest" liberals who are willing to engage in honest debate. The reason is that they generally get their clocks cleaned on this site; facts and logic are not terribly favorable to liberal dogma. (As Larry Elder likes to say, facts are to liberals as Kryptonite is to Superman.)
Once in a while I'll visit the DU site just to see what they are obsessing over. The most striking characteristic of their threads is the almost total lack of negative feedback. If facts are wrong but nevertheless pleasant (at least from their point of view), there is seldom anyone around to correct those errors. Urban myths which have long since been exploded just keep being recycled over there. And on rare occassions when someone does try to post a correction or link to a contrary article, that person is immediately branded a Freeper or a traitor for making them feel bad.
In contrast, Free Republic acts as a news filter. If someone posts an article on FR that is highly favorable towards conservatives or Republicans, or highly unfavorable towards liberals or Democrats, but is nevertheless based on total bullsh!t, that thread will quickly be debunked by swarms of other Freepers. That's our great strength and DU's great weakness.

Seen one of their threads, seen them all I have to agree with you.....
I've been to DU maybe 4 times since I've been here at FR
(In point of fact, I'd never heard of DU till I saw it mentioned here
I only went there because it was mentioned in certain posts here)

Hats off to FR for allowing DU excerpts on Election eve and just after. This rule is nothing new, but it was so hillarius to see the depths of despair, and calls for revolution....It was a nice public service, but I agree with the board moderators-Enough DU is enough.
There is only so much DU I can take at one sitting.

Personally, I'd LOVE to have those on the left side that can argue their side without resorting to insults, name-calling, or other such ad-hominems. Unfortunately, I have found that such people are VERY few and far between. There's one (or two) over on truly neutral forums like CG, but then you also have to deal with the numerous DU-types (not to mention the occasional annoying DU-like right-wingers). If you can handle this, I'm sure we'd love to have you.
I do need to point out the importance of your point #5: realize that we are not always right. I have often asked myself a very important question that everyone needs to ask themselves occasionally: how, precisely, can I be *sure* that I am right? It's not an easily answered question, but it helps keep you grouned and away from dogma-like positions. Question everything. There's an interesting practice that occurs in many high-school debate clubs: occasionally you have to argue for the side that you do *not* agree with.
So welcome, and do try to ignore the types that you are running away from that you will find here. I've been banned from DU twice and both times came as something of a surprise. Apparently, libertarians aren't tolerated much there.

The reason is that they generally get their clocks cleaned on this siteThe understatement of the year.
I've been on a lot of forums...Back to Usenet days. Nothing, and I mean absolutely, positively, nothing comes CLOSE to the knowledge found on Free Republic. The talent here is incredible. Opposition doesn't stand a chance here. I'm surprised anyone even trys.

I hate to sound ignorant ... yeah I know ... to late .... but what is "CG" ????

There is only so much DU I can take at one sitting.I can dig that. But look at that lonely "Conspiracy" catagory. It gets about 2 posts a week...DUhhh could get that forum humming!!
