Dysfunctional Democrats play election blame game
Orlando Sentinel ^ | November 24, 2002 | Sean Mussenden

Deeply divided Florida Democrats gathered Saturday in Orlando to point fingers and blame their leaders for their historic Election Day drubbing, but they failed to chart a course to bring the state's once-dominant political party back to power.

Florida Democratic Party Chairman Bob Poe, facing increasing pressure to resign because of his party's poor showing Nov. 5, brought dozens of party officials, from Tallahassee to Miami, to the gathering to talk about what went wrong and to look ahead.

The meeting -- the first since the election -- was billed as a chance to craft a roadmap for the party's recovery in time for the 2004 election and beyond. Instead, the participants looked backward, turning the 4½-hour meeting at Orlando International Airport into what one state committeewoman described as a "useless gripe session."

The meeting was closed to the press, despite protests from some Democrats who said that the party -- struggling to regain the confidence of rank and file members -- needs to operate in the sunshine.

"It was a waste of time and money," said Diane Glasser, a state committeewoman from Broward County.

"I don't know if people are angry, but there is a high level of frustration in there," said Mitch Ceasar, chairman of the Broward County Democratic Party.

Michael Moskowitz, another committeeman from Broward County, said that the meeting was important, even if little that was constructive was accomplished.

"The Democratic Party is a family -- a dysfunctional family, but a family. In order for the family to fix problems, they need to get together in a big circle and talk," he said.

God willing, they'll open fire instead...

I'm transfixed by that picture. Do any of these people even look human? Gore - the Gepetto puppet with sawdust for brains. Tipper - the Stepford Wife. Mondale - the cadaver, shocked briefly into life for a last-minute power grab. Bubba - the disgraced TRIMPOTUS, his face burning as he flashes back to boyhood humiliation. Hillary - the chipmunk-cheeked, botoxed marxist phony. The true face of the democrat party. Pretty damn scary.

Voted for democrats most of my youth, but they were Southern Democrats. The problem with the party today is they are all so far left that they are no longer Democrats. If they would listen to Miller, they would start moving right and into power, but, thankfully, they have tied themselves to the radical fringe, a group of very different and not so nice people. Were it not for the hate for pubs, they would splinter. Hate is the glue that holds the left together.

I think we can thank Mr. and Mrs. Clinton for this radical change.

If the Dems are a family, somebody had better call social services to snatch the kids.

"I don't know if people are angry, but there is a high level of frustration in there,"

The Democreeps are so used to winning with minimal effort they are totally perplexed that they lost. They just can’t understand how they could loose.

Especially in Floriduh with its high concentration of elderly who are traditionally Dimo voters.

But with the “Greatest Generation" kicking off at over a thousand a day these Dizycrats numbers are dwindling.

But even here the Dippycrats should have an advantage. Dead Dimocrats vote in larger numbers than do dead Republicans

And even of those Republicans who do vote post mortem, the vast majority switch parties to vote Daftocrat after death.

"The Democratic Party is a family -- a dysfunctional family...

Yup, sure is. It's a macrocosm of the Clintons.

The Clintons are driving the dem bus and they're swerving all-over the road.

But the dems don't seem to mind... they're just enjoying the ride.

For some reason, the Clintons toast hits the floor butter-sde-up. Go figure.

They need to get together for a big ole whine fest, then dig a hole, and ALL climb in and pull the lid in ontop of em! See, then their problems would be solved! I volunteer to go guard the hole, so none escape!

Couple of reasons: the laughing stock Gore made out of FL in 2000 and Janet Reno's handling of Elian Gonzalez.

I can feel the phain of the Floriduh Democrats. It just feels awful being part of a dysfunctional family that discovered they're life's losers. All the same let Bubba and McAwful apply the unguent. After blowing all that money on getting rid of Jeb, the fault dear Democrats, lies not in ourselves but in the people of Florida for reducing us to oblivion and setting in a new Dark Age. Hopefully they'll awaken from their Jeb-induced druggishness for us to take it all back in 2004! ;-)
